Join domain problems in Windows 2003 environment
I had a server in the domain, after a while winbind broke down. When I
try joining the domain again, I get this error:
Failed to join domain: Strong(er) authentication required
I did move this server to a different OU in the directory, but that
shouldn't affect trying to rejoin. Our domain is at the Windows 2003
functionality level. The domain controller it is attaching to has been

publishing printer to ADS not working
Hello everybody,
I have run into a problem which I am not able to resolve
by myself :-(
Yesterday I have added a new printer (cups) to a Samba
3.0.28a server. The new printer showed up in the network
neighborhood (Windows XP) and I was able to print to the
new print queue. Then I tried to publish the new printer
to the AD ( we use a windows 2000 server for user
administration and GPOs) with the

Can join ADS domain, all accounts/auth work fine, but leaving domain fails
Hello all,
As the subject says, as far as I can tell everything works on my ads
integrated samba server. Domain accounts can be used for ssh, and
accessing shares, I just can't leave the domain. Here is a successful
join command followed by an unsuccessful leave command at debug level 4.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Mark

Domain Member Server problems
Hi all,
I'm not having any success adding samba (3.0.28 on Solaris 10) to a Windows

googling)
http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#adssdm
The error is:

Joining a win2k3 ads fails
Hello,
I'm trying to join a win2k3 ADS domain using a working config on a debian 'Lenny' (arm processor)
from another machine running gentoo (x86 processor) (only changed the netbios name).
Samba versions are 3.0.26a on both the machines.
I'm pretty sure this is not a kerberos or ldap problem, anyone has a clue what else it could be?

Strong(er) authentication required when joining Active Directory (Samba 3.0.28)
Hello all,
I'm having problems getting Samba to join a Windows AD. I am delegated
OU admin, and have no direct access to the domain controller. We have 3
DCs in one domain where my OU exists. The users I wish to authenticate
are in a different domain.
I have set up Kerberos and can receive tickets correctly.
I run
net -d 4 ads join createcomputer=[Delegated OU] -U [account with join

net join, client tls bug?
QUESTION: Does samba have client side TLS capabilities?
BACKGROUND
Samba ADS compliant distributions tried:
RHEL samba 3.0.10
Blastware samba 3.0.22 (for Solaris 8 and above)
Solaris 9 compilations 3.0.24, 25b, 25c, 26a
My ADS is running in native 2003 mode. The only access I have
to it is to set up Machine accounts.
SMB.CONF
For all versions I used the same smb.conf (see end of document)

ADS Join on Windows 2008 domain not working in 3.0.25b?
Hi,
Using samba 3.0.25b, testing to join to a Windows 2008 domain using ADS
security with kerberos and it doesn't seem to work. Anybody else tried this
combination?
Same configuration worked joining to a Windows 2003 R2 domain.
I'm not a samba expert but looking at the log it looks like the
not_defined_in_RFC4178@please_ignore have something to do with it?

Hi,
You will find attached the output of "net ads testjoin -d4" and "-d3".
Yes replication seems to work properly.

wbinfo show users from trusted domain
I updated my PDC and BDC to Samba 4.4.7. Compiled from source into
/usr/local/samba.
On the samba domain controllers
"/usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u" shows the local domain users but not
the trusted one.
Everything indicates trusts are ok
# /usr/local/samba/bin/net rpc trustdom list -U Administrator

Samba 4 "Classic PDC" trusts fail with Win 2012 domain but succeed Win 2008
I am trying to configuring Samba 4 classic PDC to trust Windows 2012
domain "DomainB" - the PDC is running Windows 2012 but the forest and
domain functional levels are still Windows 2008. On the Win 2012 PDC I
try to set up an incoming trust, but it fails with "The local security
authority is unable to obtain an RPC connection to the active directory

I tried recreating the trusts.
I start by setting up trusts on Windows side, using Active Directory
Domains and Trusts on the DomainB AD server. . I specify the the
samba domain (DOMAINB) but before I can even specify trust type or
direction I get the following:

Samba/Winbind 3.4.4 on AIX 5.3 TL 10 does not retrieve ANY User's Secondary Groups
Hi folks !
Has someone any idea on this issue on AIX 5.3 TL 10 with winbind ?
I'm really stuck now ...
I think everything is working pretty well with WINBIND and AD 2k3 ,
but not my most important point : I absolutely need the Secondary groups of
each AD user which get connected to the AIX to use this filter with sudo...
I only get Primary Group (which is by default "Domain Users"

Samba 3.0.10-1.4E and RedHat ES 4.0
I have successfully, well somewhat successfully, joined a native Windows
2003 Active Directory domain as a domain member. The "home" domain has
a two-way trust relationship with another domain in the same Forest.
The Samba server can provide proper access to any object within it's
"home" domain, however, I am having difficulty providing access to the
Samba server share(s)
