Samba PDC, v3.0.25b, tdbsam: should Server have its own SID etc ?
Help... I'm running Samba v3.0.25b, recently upgraded. I use tdbsam, winbindd etc. The Samba machine is a PDC. If the machine is FRED and the domain is HOME, should I set up a machine account for FRED and join that to the HOME domain ? Should the machine FRED have its own domain SID ? Or... is are the machine FRED and the domain HOME one and the same ? Thanks, Chris -- Chris Hall

Samba v3.0.23a BROKE my network
I run Samba as a PDC for a small network. I used to use smbpassword and went through the pain of changing up to tdbsam. I have just upgraded from v3.0.14a to v3.0.23a. The immediate effect was that nobody could use their domain log in any more. I was upset. My users wished me to understand their frustration. It was not my fault. I became cross. The dog got my dinner (it's an ill

Samba Domain Member Server -- tdbsam/winbind/idmap_rid -- file ownership ?
I have just struggled to implement a Samba Domain Server, and have some remaining issues. I have a Samba PDC using tdbsam, managing a domain called RHEA. I have (finally) configured a new Samba Domain Server (AUREUS) using winbind and idmap_rid. When I am logged in to RHEA as user GMCH I can access a TMP share on AUREUS (at last). Running 'getent passwd' I get (inter alia):

pdbedit: '-G rid' doesn't seem to have any effect
On my Samba PDC, using tdbpass: 'pdbedit -Lv agrotera$' produces: Unix username: agrotera$ NT username: Account Flags: [W ] User SID: S-1-5-21-4211105910-4270789338-3787013593-1414 Primary Group SID: S-1-5-21-4211105910-4270789338-3787013593-513 ..... Nut with Powercom iCute ICT-530U (USB)
Hi! Is there any user of nut having this type of UPS? ( http://www.pcmups.com.tw/product/iCute.html) It works nice under windows and also is detected under Linux and installed as USB HID device. There is problem however, as the software provided by its manufacturer (http://www.pcmups.com.tw/download/Download/UPSMON_USBV091.zip) doesn't seem to comunicate with the UPS at all. It shows messages

Antwort: Re: Crash with Unicode and sub (PR#14114)
I don't know about the technicalities, but Peter Dalgaard said the offending code also causes R to come to a stop using SUSE + WINE. Is it possible to run that lot on top of valgrind? Of course, it will probably take all day ... If not, I have a clue which might help. The problem seems to lie in the "sub" routine. In the original report I used -- cut here -- gctorture() u <-

Strange Samba permissions
Hi, I am really stuggeling with Samba, searched forums and checked tutorials, so far with no success. So you are my last resort and probably the first place I should have checked, but I am completly new to mail groups, so please be patient with me. Users can log in to the Samba PDC domain successfully and get the login script executed just fine. But: 1.) If user A is creating a file then user

setting value arg of pdSymm() in nlme
Dear All, I wish to model random effects that have known between-group covariance structure using the lme() function from library nlme. However, I have yet to get even a simple example to work. No doubt this is because I am confusing my syntax, but I would appreciate any guidance as to how. I have studied Pinheiro & Bates carefully (though it's always possible I've missed

Delay in 'logon home' being set
Hi folks, Is the above possible? I'll explain. I've set up samba v3.0.25b-1.el4_6.5 as PDC. Everything Samba itself seems to work fine (at least according to every test I've come across online). However, I've spent the better part of 3 days trying to get an XP SP2 client to correctly execute the logon script. EVERY possible thread, EVERY possible question previously asked

"force create mode" not enforced from linux client
My Samba v3.0.25b (in CentOS v5.1) has the smb.conf shown below. What I'm seeing is that "force create mode" is not enforced when accessed by a Linux CIFS client (Fedora 7). On the server, user steve has a home directory of /home/steve, and the public directory is /home/samba/public. The shares are mounted from the client fstab like this: //nemesis/steve /mnt/cifs/myhome cifs

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970, those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm sticking with SCCP). This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine) The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in ".cop" files,

cisco 7970 sccp
Does anyone have the 7970 work with sccp? I have used the example configurations from the wiki. I can see that the phone is failing to retrieve the CTLSEP<MAC>.tlv file and then is able to retrieve the SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml file. The phone is hanging with the message "updating ctl". Thanks, John SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml: <device> <devicePool>

Cisco 7970 with skinny on * 1.4.1
Evnin' (o; As chan_sccp is pretty much dead, doesn't compile on FBSD anyway and isn't supported on * 1.4.x I tried going with chan_skinny... The Cisco 7970 registers and is being acknowledged by * but that's it... I see no lines on the 7970 display configured and it is not reachable or it can't make any outboudn calls... The docs are pretty non-existent for skinny and the

Getting 7970 to update
I'm having issues with a Cisco 7970. It seems to ignore minor changes in its config file. Is there something like the versionstamp or some other setting I need to increment in order to get the 7970 to update each time? It does seem to download the file from the TFTP server, but it never updates the display or its settings. Thanks Tim

[Asterisk-Dev] Cisco 7970 SCCP Configs.
Hi All I'm trying to get my 7970 working on the latest head version of Asterisk without success, perhaps someone could help. I'm using the head version of Asterisk with the chan_sccp from berlios.de dated 7th August. The compilation of chan_sccp seems to have worked without any problem, however I'm pretty sure the problem I have is with the config files in TFTPBOOT:- With the 7970

Cisco 7970
I currently have two Cisco phones, a 7960 and 7970. The 7960 has a SIP OS on it and the 7970 has a SCCP. When the 7960 powers up it loads OS79XX.TXT, SIPDefault.cnf, SIP000E3875266C.cnf, RINGLIST.DAT, and dialplan.xml. I have a Cisco SmartNet agreement with the phone so I have access to download the firmware. I recently purchased a Cisco 7970 phone and was in the process of configuring

Cisco 79xx XML Apps (was: Re: Cisco Directory Format)
Do you know where to find clear developers' guides (with some examples) for developing apps that run *on* Cisco 79xx phones (especially the 7970)? Examples that can run against Asterisk (not CallManager) with SIP firmware (not SCCP), and/or LDAP directories (or other open servers) would be best.
