Samba + ldap + cannot find domain
Because I'm a masochist, I decided to port my previous (and much older) Samba configuration running a (much older) Slackware implementation to a (much) new server (running Debian Jessie) without actually looking at how to migrate it. Great fun, lots of problems to solve now. The problem of the moment: /var/log/samba/log.smbd tells me it cannot find the domain info in the ldap backend.

permissions and properties of printers
Hello, I am having problems with all my clients (windows 2K and 9x) that don't have rights to modify printer settings, like tray or page size. At least the problem is consistent across all machines! ;) They can not print 11x17 pages, they can not change from defaults. We set things up rather quickly without much attention to detail and are paying for it now. The print drivers were installed

I'm using Samba as PDC in a small company (~40 computers), the environment is the following: Gentoo linux 2.6.14-hardened-r5, Samba 3.0.22-r2, OpenLDAP 2.3.24-r1, nss_ldap 2.49, Windows XP clients The problem is that profile-portability doesn't work. A user first logs into a machine, then he can't use his profile on another one. The samba log says: [2006/08/27 20:20:37, 1]

group permissions not setting correctly.
On Samba 3.5.4, I have a share that should be writable by all in the Domain Users group. When I write to the share, the permission mode is correct but the data doesn't have the correct group and instead lists the username as the group. I tried using "force group" but the share stopped being accessible after a restart so I removed it. It doesn't seem like this is standard

Domain logins: 2 small issues
Hey gang, I've managed to get samba servers working as PDCs/BDCs with LDAP backend for replication. Working fine. Here's my problems: 1) A new machine will not join the domain on the first attempt. Apparently samba creates the machine account but can't authenticate it. I have attempt to join a second time for it to authenticate and succeed. This isn't that big of a deal,

temporary profiles problem - don't want roaming profiles
I have a Samba PDC (Ubuntu 12, OpenLDAP 2.4.28, Samba 3.6.3), and at two remote sites, I have some Samba BDCs. For now I've manually entered the DCs as WINS servers on the workstations I'm using for testing. At the remote sites, I can log in with an account that has no logon path or logon home specified, and it works perfectly. But at the main site, when I try to log on to one of these
