netbios alias and AD trouble
Hello there I've got two samba servers srv1 and srv2 smb.conf for srv1: netbios aliases srv1-alias smb.conf for srv2: netbios aliases srv2-alias DNS is configured all right and resolves the names. Each name has got its own IP address. Both servers are AD members, run as expected and can be connected to via their netbios and netbios alias names. If, for example, srv1 fails I want to add

Multiple DC haven't HA on Windows
Hello, thanks for your response. I'm using samba_internal as DNS because I don't want to add bind to only relay the internal DNS. The hosts file is clean on srv2 DC (default localhost), and this is the srv1 hosts: 192.168.0.251 srv1.domain.com srv1 resolv.conf srv1: domain domain search domain.com nameserver 192.168.0.251 nameserver 8.8.8.8 resolv.conf srv2: nameserver

Hi! Having two hosts installed with libvirtd, kvm, qemu on (Ubuntu 10.10). Now I have one big problem and one less: I have set up kerberos for both hosts. Created the principal "libvirt/srv1.example.org at EXAMPLE.ORG" and "libvirt/srv2.example.org at EXAMPLE.ORG", Exported the krb5.keytab, Installed it and tested the servers: srv1.example.org: I can connect using kerberos

TCP replication: high connection rate and looping in incomplete state
Hi, I am trying to establish TCP(s)-based replication between two FreeBSD 11.1 machines, both running Dovecot 2.2.35 (via pkg) with 10 virtual users and 1.2GB maildir. I followed the Wiki description (https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication), just skipped the SSH part. My resulting configurations are attached below. Problem: After reloading both Dovecot instances, a few seconds later they start to

Ldap failover
This is driving me nuts... I have two LDAP servers working. One primary, one slave. Replication is working. I have my PDC authenticating against one LDAP server, or the other. I cannot get it to check the first, if that is unavailable, then check the second. It basically crashes. Here is the line I am currently using in smb.conf: ldap server = srv1.domain.com This works, as does:

Building a replacement Samba4 server to replace a Samba3 system, running into file rights issues.
I am building a Samba4 setup to replace a Samba3 server I built for small non profit school back in 2012. It is running CentOS 6.x, samba version 3.6.23-52.el6_10.? Rather than attempt to upgrade this system to Samba4, it makes more sense (to me at least) to build a new server and move the data. Currently I have 2 samba servers running as virtual machines under kvm.? One is the AD server,

Winbind troubles
I've rolled 2 virtual servers running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and have installed the SerNet packages. SRV1 has the AD setup and SRV2 is a member server. I've followed the wiki for both servers to the letter, and winbind still refuses to grab info on the member server. I rolled the provision with --use-rfc2307, added a bunch of users with samba-tool. I then manually created a group and made sure

pdbedit will only add users to the local machine domain, not the global domain
Hello all, When I try to add a user to my secrets.tdb file on my Samba 3.2.0 PDC, the users are always added under the local machine domain, not the global domain. That is, if my PDC machine name is srv1, and it is PDC for the domain DOM1, then whenever I add a user using "pdbedit -a -u username", then that user gets placed under the local domain SRV1, not the global domain DOM1. So my

Possible to have two SAMBA srvs act as one?
Hi, is it possible to share write locks amongst two samba servers? We are experiencing performance issues all the time, because one location (location A) is connected via VPN to the main location (location B) and needs to access files hosted there on some samba shares. Now loc A gets its own server, but still files hosted in B need to be read/write accessed from A and vice versa. It would be
