Is this possible? (syncing users between a system with samba 3 on and a win2k3 server)
Okay, first a bit of background... It looks as though I'm going to be getting a consulting job soon to replace a guy at a company, turns out he has done something of a poor job (for example the router login is accessible from the outside, any ip etc). Now, the main server at this company is running Windows 2003 Server (SBS possibly) it also acts as the email server etc I plan to separate

Winbind not looking in correct Win2k3 SBS User container
Hi, We've recently upgraded a network from Win2k to 2k3 SBS. We were using samba with security = domain (which I believe stopped working - I was on vacation at the time the upgrade was done) and are now using security = ads. We're using samba-3.0.23b-0.1.35 on SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9 SP3 x86_64 The samba machine has been sucessfully joined to the domain with: kinit

Poor network performance on Win2k3 DomU
Hi everyone. I´m having this problem with Red Hat 5.4 running on a HP ProLiant BL460c G6. I have two windows 2k3 x64, but network performance is extremely bad without PV drivers, i mean, it takes a lot of time to access any location and if the path has many folders it can´t conect. Redhat provides some PV dirvers. I´ve installed them, but with no improvements. I tested another DomU, with the

Very weird access problems from win2k3 to samba 3.x
I've got a samba 3.0.5 (I can't get 3.0.6 or 3.0.7 to compile - I'll get to that later) server running and it *appears* to be working just fine. >From the 2k3 system in question, if I open an explorer window I can access the server via UNC just fine, no errors or anything on the Windows side. On the Samba side though, once in a while I get this in the samba.log file (and I'm

Allow Local System user on win2k3 access to Samba share
Greetings, I have a service running on a Windows Server 2003 box that I want to write to a Samba share running on Solaris 10. The Samba is not a DC. How can I give access to the Local System user on the Windows box without making the share writeable to any other user or system? NSS ldap problems
I'm having trouble setting up ldap based authenication. I have a virtual (KVM) CentOS 5.4 box set up to authenticate to a 389 (fedora) directory server, and that works fine. However, I set up a virtual box running CentOS 6, and I can't get it to authenicate. I've run authconfig with the appropriate flags, ldapsearch properly finds the data, but I can't log in. /var/log/secure

NTLM, NTLMv2, lmcompatibilitylevel >=2 doesnt work
Hi, I'm wondering if samba supports NTLMv2, particullary NTLMv2 session security. But I can't even get NTLM-only to work :(. I'm trying to increase lmcompatibilitylevel, but I can't connect to the samba server anymore when I set it to 2 or higher ("Send NTLM authenication only"). I'm using HEAD CVS of today, and my smb.conf looks like this: [global]

Weirdness with authentication/1.0a4.
Hi, FreeBSD has recently upgraded their port from 0.99 to 1.0a4, and this has caused me an absolute nightmare of a situation. In a nutshell I replaced my conf with the -example, and modified almost nothing. I made some SSL certs and put them in place, left it with imap/pop/pam etc. Whenever users tried to connect to the remote address, cara.untaken.net, I would get: Oct 27 18:31:14 cara

Configuring PAM
We're using Samba 2.2.2 on AIX (RS/6000) with NT authentication. We only want to authenticate at the PDC, and if they pass, they'll be able to map to whatever shares have been assigned to their Workgroup...we need to bypass any authentication at the AIX level. From the limited documentation (PAM-authenication-and-Samba.html) , it almost looks like PAM will accomplish this task. Is

winbind or netsamlogon_cache.tdb issue
Hello, i am using samba 3.0.9 (winbind in particular) on RHES server for a squid project : to authenticate users or check in they are member of some groups on AD W2K servers. It has been working fine for one year. Last week, we have defined new AD groups to use for this project. The problem that i am facing, is that for some users, the check to see if the user is in the group is working fine,
