hessian fails for box-constrained problems when close to boundary?
Hi
I am trying to recover the hessian of a problem optimised with
box-constraints. The problem is that in some cases, my estimates are very
close to the boundary, which will make optim(..., hessian=TRUE) or
optimHessian() fail, as they do not follow the box-constraints, and hence
estimate the function in the unfeasible parameter space.
As a simple example (my problem is more complex though,

PANIC: internal error (lib/fault.c:fault_report)
I'm running Samba 3.0.1 in an ADS configuration (SuSE Linux 9.0). Whenever
I attempt to access the Samba server via Windows networking (network
places, etc.) I get the following error report in the smb.log. There wasn't
much available on the lists or the web on this...
Any help is appreciated.

Numerous errors trying to authenticate samba against w2k3
My goal is to authenticate a Windows 2003 Server user from a FreeBSD
4.10 box via samba. A week ago I had this working. I then needed to
verify the procedure and test on a fresh install. Now it doesn't work,
despite doing the same steps (I think).
I generated a Kerberos ticket on the w2k3 box and transfered it to the
FreeBSD box. I used the ktutil command to incorporate the ticket into

Winbind Kerberos Problem? - Getting Wrong User SID
I am having trouble getting users connected to shares after setting ACL
permissions on the share (removing the Everyone group and adding
specific users). I have no problem with wbinfo, getent, or net join
commands. I can also kinit a user and use smbclient -k to connect to
windows shares from the samba server. I have removed ncsd from the
system to make sure it can't run. BTW, the user can

net ads join to w2k3 hangs, every encryption type fails
I am able to get a kerberos ticket with kinit. When I try to net ads join, it seems to loop. In running net ads join in -d 10,
I found that it tries enctypes 18,17,16,and 2 and then repeats, over and over. It does not seem to work on any of these. I'm
trying to get it to join a win2k3 domain. Below is the bottom part of the log from net ads join, as well as some of my

Kerberos Error
Hi,
I'm using samba-*-3.0.6-4.3.100mdk and libkrb51-1.3-6.3.100mdk on
LM10.0. A similar summary to what I'm seeing could be found here.

My relevant config info could be found below. May I ask how could I
solve this in LM10.0? What packages do I need to update? The problem
does not arise with NT. It happens to only W2K, XP,

Can't join new samba dc to existing dc
Hello All,
Please help..
I can not join an additional new samba dc ver. 4.19.5 to an existing samba
Ad version 4.19.5 functional level 2008 R2.
Last week I successfully demote an offline dc3 and move the fsmo role to
dc4. The command i used to join:
it at dc6:~$ sudo samba-tool domain join NICHO.COM DC -UAdministrator at NICHO.COM
--option='idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes'

Reconstruct a dataset
Dear all,
I have a dataset that looks like this:
inividual var1 var2 ?
1 1 1 ?
2 1 2 ?
3 2 1 ?
4 2 2 ?
? ? ? ?
I will random sample 2 individuals from this dataset based on a set of
random numbers, e.g.,
rn1 <- c(0, 0, 1, 1), rn2 <- c(0, 0, 2, 0), rn3 <- c(1, 0, 0, 1), rn4 <-

\PIPE\NETLOGON (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND)
Help,
wbinfo -t fails with the error in subject, and getting sids of groups that
aren't BUILTIN fail. Everything else seems to work. Note: I am not
converting my kerberos tickets to krb4, is this necessary? (It used to work
without it..but now it seems not to work.) I get no errors from kinit.
all other wbinfo requests succeed with the exception of looking up the SIDS of

Yes they are, see samba-tool drs replicate -h.

Desynced DC
Hi list,
We use samba 4.1.17 (debian's version) on several DCs. I just realized
that one of them is desynced and cannot get it to resync.
The long story: we got 5 DCs splitted over several sites. Recently we
had to replace one of them (let's call him DC5). Since both had to run
in parallel for data recovery/users work we decided to join a brand new
DC (DC6) and latter demote the

Have you tried to replicate with the --sync-forced and --full-sync options?

Desynced DC
I'd try to rejoin the faulty DC instead of copying sam.ldb files. I
guess there are unique DC specific entries in the local database.
Can be samba-tool replicate works if you try the push the settings from
an other dc or pull em on the faulty dc.
What command did you try andn on what dc?

Desynced DC [SOLVED]
Hi again,
The --local option did the trick. But I can see why
samba-tool drs replicate desynced-dc.my.domain sane-dc.my-domain
dc=ad,dc=my,dc=domain
fails while
samba-tool drs replicate desynced-dc.my.domain sane-dc.my-domain
dc=ad,dc=my,dc=domain --local
works like a charm (desynced-dc.ad.finsecur.lan resolves correctly)
Anyway, sync seem to be up & running again, thank you very much

Problem: wbinfo -t fails. As long as it fails, I am unable to map sids to

about everyother function of wbinfo at least partially...

krb5.conf in /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 very different from original
Hi all !
I have some problems browsing a samba share from a Canon ImageRunner printer.
It tries to write to a share located on a samba server, configured to authenticate users against a windows 2003 Active directory.
Samba version 3.2.6 is running on opensuse 11.1.
After a lot of search, I tought that maybe it did not support the encryption type requested by my Samba server, so I checked my
