Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do
I finally fixed my problem by removing samba completely removing samba and reinstalling it. What I discovered is it appears to be an issue with rights. When I reinstalled samba the /var/lib/samba had rights like this.
drwxrwxr-x+ 5 root root 4096 2010-01-11 23:27 samba
On my original install where the 5 is it was a 6. After the reinstall the rights the rights on /var/lib/samba was reset to 5

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do; -)
Initially when I posted my access problems to print$ I was using the new registry based smb.conf I had my whole configuration in the registry. Now I move my printers and print$ back to the text based smb.conf and I copied the standard ubuntu debian [printers] and [print$] out of the original ubuntu package smb.conf and the only modification that I made was under the [print$] I change read only to

Delete printer from cups but will not delete from samba
I am running ubuntu feisty 64-bit samba 3.0.24 and I deleted a printer
from cups. In the past when I deleted the printer in cups it would
delete it in samba. For some reason the printer did not get deleted in
samba and when you browse the server you still see the printer. I did a
net rpc printer and the deleted printer still showed up shared on the
server. How do you delete a printer that

FW: Re: Access Denied touching shared CUPS printer
After much trying I have finally got this to work and I'm slightly
embarassed to admit that the old RTFM tripped me up. In the Samba 3
HOWTO - the official one, rather than the draft I was originally using -
it states quite clearly that to get point 'n' print to work "use client
driver" needs to be set to "no" in the [global] section of smb.conf, and
the samba

No Printer Connection, Samba sharing cups printer
Hello!
I'm using samba to share printers from a cups service. In the windows
explorer both printers, a network tcp/ip printer connected using a jet
direct box and a pdf printer added by the package cups-pdf, are visible and
both can be used from the cups web interface and work.
When trying to use each from the windows explorer:
The pdf printer can be printed to just fine.

CUPS working but errors from Windows clients accessing printer
Hi,
On CentOS 6.4 (newdc), I have CUPS 1.4.2-50.el6_4.5 installed, can
access its web interface. There I set up our main shared printer, an
OCE Imagistics cm2520, and successfully printed a test page.
With SerNet Samba 4.0.9 on the same box configured every which example
way I could find, I cannot seem to get it to the point where
double-clicking the printer in Windows (W2K3, OLDDC) opens

share CUPS printer/scanner in Debian system with Windows computers in home network
Hi,
I've been trying to fix this for many months and cannot do it. I have a
printer (Samsung ML-1740) and a printer/scanner (Canon MP-150), both
installed in a Debian AMD64 system via CUPS. I have enabled sharing all
printers in this machine in CUPS, and can print to them fine from other
GNU/Linux systems in the network. However, I cannot even see this
computer from other Windows machines

shared cups printers disappeared
I have two computers, one with a HP printer on it and one with a Samsung
printer on it.
Both systems have their respective pritnters listed under
system-config-printer and have "enabled" "accepting jobs" and "shared" checked.
Up to a few days ago this worked fine. Suddenly I can't see either printer
from the other machine and as far as I know nothing has

First off I have read the SAMBA 2.2 printer documetation and Samba Printing Documentation for 3.0. And searched the Internet through Google and did not come up with much. Maybe it is how I am doing search I don't know. I had some success using CUPS for Point and Click printing using cupaddsmb command. I could get the print drivers to download on W2K and XP. Configuring printers in CentOS 5
Could someone please explain to me how to best configure printers in CentOS 5?
I've been trying to configure a new printer, which is served by a Mac Mini:
If I open a web browser at localhost:631, or "system-configure-printers" and I configure
the new printer as an IPP printer, it winds up in a list of "Remote printers", and once it
winds up there I can't seem to
