[Fwd: Problems with samba and windows 2000 professional]

Windows 2003 active directory server (server.company.local) 2. samba 3.0.25 linux server (serve2.company.local) 3. windows xp and windows 2000 professional clients. All clients are part of the ads structure. What's happening is the

ADS authentication in disjointed, multiple forest
All, I have recently come across a problem I have been unable to resolve. I have been running Samba with Winbind ADS authentication for the last couple of years with good success until recently. About 2 weeks ago, I restarted the Samba and Winbind services on a Fedora Core 3 machine runing Samba 3.0.10-1 (installed from FC3 RPMs) and the active directory authentication has started failing. defunct netstat processes
I am running samba 3.0.23 with winbind joined to a windows 2003 AD domain. Over time, I've noticed that winbindd shows forked zombied netstat processes, and over time, they continue to build up. Right now, there are hundreds of zombied netstat processes forked from winbindd shown by ps afx. Any ideas of what could cause this? Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_MEMBER Press enter to see a dump

ADS winbind/krb5 error
Hi all. Pretty new in Linux side of the world. I'm trying to run Samba 3.x on Fedora-core-1 in an ADS environment, with krb5 authentication. Installed Samba 3.0.2rc2 from source, installed the required libraries for kerberos MIT, configured smb.conf and krb5.conf. Run net ads join -U administrator and it worked, i can see the machine account in the active directory. From my linux box I

samba ADS-based authentication fails with NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER but wbinfo works
Once again, I forgot to change the "To:" line so apologies to Andrew, who will have this twice.... Hi Andrew, thanks for the response. (I've modified the subject line because I just realised I mis-remembered the error message when I typed the subject line before...) I was running 3.0.33 on both boxes with identical conf files; it wasn't working then, so I updated to 3.5 in

Kerberos Error
Hi, I'm using samba-*-3.0.6-4.3.100mdk and libkrb51-1.3-6.3.100mdk on LM10.0. A similar summary to what I'm seeing could be found here. http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-July/090210.html My relevant config info could be found below. May I ask how could I solve this in LM10.0? What packages do I need to update? The problem does not arise with NT. It happens to only W2K, XP,

Wireless Production Servers Authentication of Active Directory with Inconsistent NTLM Auth Failures
Hi I work for a medium sized University and have recently set up some new infrastructure to authenticate our wireless users of Active Directory. Every thing was working as expected or so I thought. I set up a monitoring script that performs an ntlm_auth every minute and it shows that the authentication is failing inconsistently but for around 5 minutes at a time (see below). There are two

Issue with Samba 3.0.28a and Active Directory
Hi all, 1. We are using Linux kernel 2.6.20.11 64-bit and Samba 3.0.28a 2. We are trying to connect from this linux machine to a Windows ADS running on a separate Windows 2003 system (WINADS machine). 3. Though we are able to retrieve the name of the WINADS machine from linux (We see the name of the machine in samba log file), we are unable to access any of the users in the WINADS

Hi, I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.2 working against a Windows 2003 Active Directory. Samba3 and AD
Hi all, I'm trying integrate my Redhat 7.3 machine with Win2000 server Active Directory, such that users can logon to the Linux box using AD accounts. I have successfully join the Linux box into the domain as a domain member server, and current linux account users can access their Samba share from their Windows machines. samba + kerberos + active directory with multiple domains
I've almost got this thing working. I have it set up on a centos machine to authenticate logins and automounts to windows file servers. But it won't allow me to specify a domain as part of the userid. I can set a default domain in smb.conf and logging into that domain works like a champ. And I can list the other domains with "wbinfo --online-status" (not sure what
