Newest WINE No Longer Runs
I have a Dell Laptop running Fedora 7. I bought this from "Emperor Linux" who configured the machine and shipped it to me ready-to-go.
I had successfully installed a few minor Windows applications and had them running under WINE. Since I began using Linux a few years ago, I have adopted the posture of doing periodic updates with yum.
Awhile ago, one such yum update installed WINE

WIne won't open any more.
I recently installed Avery's design program on wine, afterwards I opened one of my files (with Avery), which caused Wine to crash. Now, wine won't open any programs even winecfg will not open. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling wine, but it didn't work. below is the response from running the command "winecfg" in the terminal.
Code:
myron at ubuntu:~$ winecfg

Major Bug while trying to run winecfg
I am getting major errors and have no idea what to do. I followed the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/download/deb and got the following results:

CUPs and Samba and XP
Hullo All.
The preamble.... Samba 2.2.7a compiled against CUPS, CUPs v 1.1.6 (version
that came with Mandrake 9.0), using client side drivers (raw printing) on
XP.
Printing works, cancelling jobs via the web interface works after the
spooling is done. What doesn't work. Pausing jobs (though that's not as
important as the next trouble) and cancelling jobs from XP. If I cancel a
job by

Wine has stopped working??
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but all of a sudden none of my wine applications work, including winecfg!
Looking at the output below, I have a feeling it's something to do with the printers? In fact, I seem to recall it worked for running AcrossLite one day recently, then crashed while I was trying to print from the application, then hasn't worked since... any ideas?

Wine07252005 spooler problem
Hi,
I installed Wine07252005, my printer is EPSON LX 300X, it's CUPS, the name is EPSON9Pin. I tested it with a simple Delphi program and have two problems:
1) If i print using a report builder like RBuilder, it prints quite well, but the font does look good in the print out.
2) If I use spooler to print, like following:
if StartDocPrinter(PrnHandle, 1, @DocInfo) = 0 then

FIXED - Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spool er
OK, it's working now. I waited until the production lines
were undergoing a shift change and brought down all of Samba,
then restarted it. Printing now works just fine. I still
don't know what caused the problem, I never saw any error
messages in the [sn]mbd or client logs, even with the log
level turned turned up to 2.
Thanks very much for the time and trouble you took to think

FW: Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I hate to follow up on my own post, but here's an additional
bit of info: I've tried changing the "print command" setting
in smb.conf to log the command and parameters when a job is
printed. However, no output is ever logged; it's acting as if
the print job is being spooled but the print command isn't
being executed. The print command I added is:
print command = echo

logs such as messages, boot.log, and kernel contained 0 size
Hi,
My both CentOS 5 servers have logging problems. Logs such as messages, boot.log, kernel, spooler, and tallylog in /var/log directory are all 0 size.
The kernel is: Linux 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5 #1 SMP.
Since the /var/log/messages contained no information it would be impossible to troubleshoot the problem.
I am very sure both systems have not been hacked by others.
Sincerely,
Frank Ling

Update second pulldown menu based on first menu selection?
I know I''ve seen this somewhere on this board and just can''t search it
anymore.
I have three relational tables: clients, projects, and tasks. Currently
I''m working on customizing the ''new/edit'' task _form. So far I have it
listing clients in a pulldown menu so I can assign the new task to a
client. I''d like to have a second pulldown select

Wine not running any programs, including winecfg
I am new to linux, and new to wine, and think I may have actually stepped a little out of my depth by jumping into it without a little more coding/programming experience. I am running Kubuntu Hardy, and have encountered a serious problem with wine 1.1.7, in that it doesn't want to function. If I click on exe files, it will open a tab on the taskbar, show activity, then kill the tab.

Print spooler full with completed print jobs
Hi,
I have Panasonic KX-P7105 printer connected through LPT1 port to the "D-link
DP-101P+" print server.
This printer is defined as raw and I am using it only for printing from
different windows clients.
Drivers are only on windows client side. On linux side I never print one
page.
Suddenly, in windows print spooler I can see already printed documents from
every user. As

CentOS 6: Logrotate / selinux problem
Ever since a recent power failure I have been getting a Logrotate error. My
machine is on a UPS -- it shutdown cleanly, but I suspect that its BIOS/RTC
battery is dead, since the machine came up thinking it was 1982 :-(. I reset
the clock and everything is fine, *except* I had to delete Logrotate's state
files (which had bad dates). But now Logrotate is raising the error:

samba + cups + windows client printing
We have samba + cups + clienting printing (where
driver is on client) using the instructions from wiki
for gentoo. The problem is that most of the times the
print jobs simply do not print. We looked at the
spooler for cups and file info header is in the cups
spooler for a little while. Then it disappears, but no
printing. The samba spooler is always empty. Is there
anyway to debug samba/cups other

Printing Problems / SAMBA Digest 2072
Hello Brian,
There is a very annoying problem with UNIX systems and network printing. On
nearly all SYSV systems the spooler stores only the address of the
(temporarily) print file. This does not cause any problem if it is created
by a local application. If the temporarily print file was created via a
network application (Samba, NFS, etc.) it will be removed shortly
afterwards. In the most

Point and Print problem 2.2.7A and 2.2.8
I have detected significant performance slow down when I use PnP driver with versions 2.2.7A and 2.2.8.
It happened with all kinds of Windows OS (exclude 9x) when user has administrative rights to Samba based printers.
In Windows system event viewer I see that spooler retrieves printer driver files from Samba server to Window machine a lot of times.
It happened each time when I try to update
