Server Signing prevents Client Access
I have Samba 3.6.25-45 running with the following configuration. The read-only share should be available to the public without any username/password authentication. The Samba server will not be added to a domain. Client machines might or might not be part of a domain.
If "server signing = disabled", clients can connect to the [test] share. If "server signing = enabled" or

Joining Windows XP client to Samba 3 domain: Access denied
Hi all!
When I try to join a Windows XP client to a Samba 3 domain I get an
access denied error. Below's my configuration and a snippet from the log
file. Has someone an idea what I need to change / do in order to be able
to join the domain from Windows?
Thx in advance for your help!
Chris

Hi guys,
Thanks for those of you whole kept reading after seeing the subject line

Q: Client cannot authenticate
Hi
A new setup Windows client fails to authenticate to my Samba server (3.0.24-SerNet-RedHat).
What I see in log at level 10 is:
Got user=[SA-MC-SMSNS@corproot.net] domain=[] workstation=[MSISMSSRV01P] len1=24 len2=122
The empty domain seams to be origin of the problem, for other systems
working OK this field is not empty.
The Windows client is:

Samba 3.6.9 on Centos 6.4 and very slow first access to fileserver
Hello good people,
I am fighting with following issue: our users are complaining about very
slow/delayed displaying of main folders during accessing server using
\\dns.name.of.server (using \\IP or \\netbios_name is it with same
slowness). But once they are authenticated, displaying contents of
(sub-)folders are getting normal.
Once the user hit "enter" key on

Bug? Authentication failure with multiple logins from same client IP addy
We have a client machine (Windows 2000) that runs an application which spawns separate processes with each authenticate separately to the SAMBA server (3.0.13)
When several of these processes run at the same time, SOME of the authentications fail with NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD written to the log.smbd file (error level 2)...I've attached a snippet of the log file to the end of this message

Non-domain MFPs cannot access server
I have a Samba 3.4.7 server with ADS authentication. Windows clients
have no issues, but non-domain MFPs cannot access shares, even with
guest ok = yes.
The MFPs can scan to a Samba 3.2.7 server, configured with Openfiler.
This line is the same on both servers
Got user=[printers] domain=[] workstation=[RNPE96472] len1=24 len2=24
This is what comes next on the working, 3.2.7 server:

3.6.6 map untrusted to domain does not work if winbind is running
Hi all,
I have a domain member server 3.6.6 running on debian7, authenticating
against another debian7 + samba 3.6.6 in DC-mode. Both servers have
user-accounts and groups on LDAP and resolve posix users using libnss-ldap.
The groupmap is living on LDAP as well.
The domain member server serves a share with ACL enabled. I got the upgrade
to 3.6.X and idmap-updates working, but the old

Cannot Get Samba to Work Without Encrypted Password with Legacy Client
Hi there,
I have looked for a solution to my problem on the Internet (and in particular this mailing list), but couldn't find one, probably due to searching for the wrong thing :-)
I have an RPI running Samba version 4.9.5-Debian. "pdbedit -L" shows that the user "smbuser" exists. I used "smbpassword" to set the password of "smbuser". I also have

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi,
our setup is
Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA)
Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008)
The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to
log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles
are working.
However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2
server to users from the SAMBA
