Redhat ES3 & 4 findsmb
In hope and all googled out, have used the basic samba functions for some time. Have now installed a few RH ES3 & 4 machines and in the majority of cases, just have PC's access directories on the Linux servers and mount points from Linux to PC's. Have noticed, after the fact, that findsmd only finds itself. On the same network have two Linux machines Redhat 7.2 findsmb gets all

Correct Shorewall version for RedHat ES3
Hello all -- I am trying to get Shorewall, ipsec and RedHat ES version 3 to cooperate. Before posting any specific problems, I thought I''d find out if I have the right stuff to work with. (I''ve gotten ipsec to work flawlessly with Shorewall using RH 8 and 9 kernels, so I have some experience with it. Shorewall 2.0.12 works fine on this ES 3 box, except for the ipsec part)

ACL & roaming profiles - XP SP2 - Samba 3.14a
Hi, we just upgraded to samba 3.14a from 3.12 I guess. Now does anyone have working profiles with XP? I looked around on the net, and there seems to be a problem, still or again... With the previous version installed it worked well. Jan Kellerhoff

ls -l name lookup not working with winbind Samba 3.14a
Hi, I would be grateful for any help with this. We are running Samba 3.0.14a with winbind, libiconv and acl support. We are running a Veritas cluster between two Solaris 8 servers. The Samba share is mounted on an external disk which is hosted by either server. The problem is that our Samba share while visible and accessible from the command prompt cannot be listed with a name lookup ls

Logging levels
I recently upgraded from Samba v3.6.25 to v4.3.3. After the upgrade, I realized I should change my smb.conf because the syslog parameters are deprecated. My old parameters were: log level = 1 syslog = 6 syslog only = yes Also, I built Samba with --with-syslog-facility=LOG_LOCAL7. I'm having trouble replicating the same configuration with v4.3.3. The syslog

[LLVMdev] gfortran: link error building gfortran on linux
Hi, in trying to build an llvm-gfortran on linux from today's gcc4 SVN, I get the following link errors that didn't show up on OS X. This is also using LLVM CVS from this morning. They appear to mostly be related to CodeWarrior compatibility code, but a couple are less obvious. What's the best way to fix this? I'm stuck without my powerbook for at least three weeks and I'd

TFTP Server
G'Day All, Can anyone give me some direction in setting up the TFTP server on my RadHat ES3 box? I did quite a bit of reading, but I think I am more unsure now than before. I found the information nebulous. TFTP is already installed. I am trying to determine where the root directory for the tftp services is located so I can copy the CISCO 7960 firmware files onto it. Thanks.... Ferg

Hi, I have just changed OS'es from ES3 to CentOS. Is this the correct list to find out about updates available for centOS? With ES3 I received an update email with the regular and security updates available and would run up2date. Now, I have yum and am not familiar with how updates are sent about centOS. Thanks! mountpoint_get broke the quota plugin
Looks like the new mountpoint_get code broke the quota plugin. I am getting this error when trying to start dovecot, using last night's CVS on Red Hat ES3: # service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: Edlopen(/usr/lib/dovecot/imap/lib01_quota_plugin.so) failed: /usr/lib/dovecot/imap/lib01_quota_plugin.so: undefined symbol: mountpoint_get Error: imap dump-capability process returned 22784

I've just had to do some further work with Samba -- I've been running ver 2 for years without any problems -- so I just discovered that the current version is 3.14a. Right now I'm a bit overwhelmed with the amount of information that's been added in the last couple of years and hope someone will help me to cut through my information overload. Are there any particular issues I

Hey guys, My NFS server has been working really well for a long time now. Both client and server run CentOS 7.2.
