W2K3 Domain - Can't Connect to Share?
I have a linux box, Samba 3.0.23a, that is joined to a W2K3 domain. I
cannot connect to the "MP3s" share (all legal!) on this system - I can
connect to home directories and printers. When I try to connect to MP3s
as any user on the domain, I get an Access is denied message, or it
prompts me for the username and password again. I am using Winbind (if
that matters), so none of these

What's wrong with my smb.conf? Access Denied with 3.0.23c
Still having problems with my Samba configuration, even after upgrade to
the latest FC5 samba package. Getting "Access Denied" errors when
trying to connect with a member of the group "Domain Users" to the MP3s
share. The W2K3 server shows that authentication was successful. I
can't find any errors in the logs at all, and winbind appears to be
working (I can su to the

DFS, WAN links and file syncing
I'm working on solving an interesting problem. We've got some folks on
the other side of a WAN link who are complaining about the very long
load time they have for the really big files located on my server.
There *is* a linux system on their side of the WAN connection with Samba
already installed and it occurred to me that maybe a DFS setup would be
helpful.
Having never messed with DFS

SAMBA PDC User Permissions, Admin Settings, and Logon?
Hi all! First off, I'd like to thank you for the help you've previously
given me. I'd like to state a few of the problems I am now experiencing,
and you all can provide insight. I've read all the documentation I can find
and have surfed the archives for this newsgroup, but to no avail. Any help
would be greatly appreciated!
(I am using SAMBA 2.2.7)

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Guus:
Ok, I accept your challenge.
But I am clueless in terms of getting the routing table correct.
So each server has a dual identity, both a LAN private identity with a
PRIVATE IP address and a WAN public identify with a PUBLIC ip address.
And how to have 2 different tun devices show up in the ifconfig -a so
that LAN IP address can be assigned to the tun0 and a WAN IP address can
be assigned

Linking shares via WAN or VPN
Hello List,
here?s what i got:
2 Boxes running Samba 3 with LDAP as Backend, one in each Location.
The Authentification works fine via the Wan-Link, that?s not the problem.
However, since we want the Users to be able to roam not only inside the
Offices - but also betweeen them - we need to implement a system that
also keeps the actual Data and Profiles in Sync. ATM, we?re using UNISON
to do

VPN/WAN Domain members
I have about 60 PC's running windows XP behind vpn routers in different
locations. I find that they lose connection or sync (or whatever the right word
is) to the domain periodically, probably when the vpn shuts down due to low
demand. The result is that any domain user not already in the local password
hash cache cannot log in and any local share with domain permissions on it will

increasing throughput over slow-but-fat WAN links?
Hi there
We have a world-wide WAN network that we are running rsync over. It all
works - but the throughput of any one rsync connection is limited by the
latency on our inter-continental links. e.g a site may have a 4Mbs link,
but a single rsync job can only get 1.5Mbs of the bandwidth.
Running 3-5 rsync jobs in parallel gets around that limit and obviously
allows us to saturate a particular

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Gus:
I guess my primary point of confusion is that the non-vpn LAN ip
addresses are duplicated in each cluster. So within a cluster, the LAN
addresses are unique.
But when you look at 2 clusters, 2 different servers share the
10.99.0.11 address.
So that is why I created a VPN for inside the cluster on the LAN
interfaces using the private 10.0.1.xx range. THen, I created a
separate VPN on the

SAMBA PDC, WinXP SP1 - config attached!
I am a SAMBA newbie, although I have spent many days perusing the newgroups
and web for information before I posted my problem. I appreciate any time
you put into helping me out. Here's my situation:
I can log on to the domain with my WinXP non-SP1 machine, works just fine,
no problems at all. However, if I try to use either of my SP1 machines,
here is what I get:

two WANs one LAN
Hello list,
I want a set-up with a satellite link (eth0) and a cellular cdma
link (ppp0) coming into a linux box with a LAN (eth1 or wlan0)
to be able to route first through the satellite when it''s on, or
else the cdma when it''s in range. Load sharing is not critical,
but it would be nice. The satellite has a static IP, the cdma
is dynamic. Both WANs are

Pam [default=bad success=ok user_unknown=ignore], Winbind
Winbind has been working great for domain logons (have to restart it
every few weeks, but other than that, works great!), but today I noticed
I couldn't log in as a local user. For instance, if my local user was
test, and I tried to log in, I'd get this in /var/log/messages:
Aug 22 12:14:00 mgprisvr pam_winbind[8346]: request failed, but PAM error 0!

Shorewall and P2P traffic
Hi all,
I have just upgraded to a new satellite internet provider. I have two network cards - one with a public IP connected to my satellite router, and the second network card with private IP into my switch for the LAN. Shorewall firewall
My old satellite system is not being used.
Would it be possible/feasable to install a third network card into my Fedora Core 2 server, and then direct all

IAX2 trunk mode over satellite
Today has been the day for satellite questions, apparently, so I'll
proxy one out to the rest of the community... I asked this
tangentially a month or two ago, but I'll put it in a more blunt way:
If you have IAX2 trunking mode experience over satellite, please let
us know your experiences with that protocol/transport combination.
I've got several people asking about IAX2 and

Configure Printing with Samba part of W2K3 Domain
Hello!
I've read various information on the web, including the HOWTO on how to
configure Printers, but I am struggling with making my printers publicly
printable. My samba server is joined to a W2K3 domain. How do I
configure it to be printable by anyone, even a user/system not part of
the domain? Here is my current config:

CTDB over WAN Link with LMASTER/RECMASTER Disabled
Hi,
I came across the 'CTDB_CAPABILITY_LMASTER=no' and 'CTDB_CAPABILITY_RECMASTER=no' options in my quest to salvage a rather poorly performing CTDB cluster over Ceph(fs). Unfortunately, the docs provide not enough information for a clustering noop like myself. Would there be any benefit to disabling those options for a branch office node on a high-latency WAN connection?

Glusterfs over wan?
Hello !
sorry for english, but, just don't understand why glusterfs is not
destinated to be used over the wan ?
I think that if the files are tiny, there's no problem to use this
solution over wan.. ?
But okay, if file are large.. (don't know .. 100MB - 200MB and more.) i
understand that it depend of the internet connection and that's the
replication can be so soo soo slow..
