BDC keeps taking over and not allowing logins from NT PDC
Hello, thanks for looking over my ramblings...
We have an NT4 PDC with and NT4 BDC on 192.168.132.X, these boxes are
very very old and overloaded. I am trying to replace them with a nice
shinny new Samba box. My problem is that while I am trying to test it
out to make sure it plays nice it keeps winning the elections.
I find this weird as I have set the box to domain master = no and turned

STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE?
I have a user who gets some random disconnects (well not exactly, it is
more like her box goes insane randomly...explained better below). I was
able to run a wireshark dump on her box and when the trigger action is
performed I get a STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE.
She is in MS Access an runs a report to trigger it (then she gets about
a thousand "disk or network error" dialog boxes). The

ldap configuration oddity
Hey, I am totally confused/lost/confused getting this config working.
I am trying to get samba to authenticate against LDAP. After reading a
bunch of docs I generated the config at the end.
When I run testparm against it I get:
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
Unknown parameter encountered: "ldap server"

Group quotas on shares
Hello,
Samba 3.0.23d PDC on CentOS 4.4, smbpasswd backend, Windows XP clients.
I recently took over the administration of a small LAN (~35 hosts). The shared drives had been implemented in a hurry and the configuration had never been revisited. Linux groups had been enabled for different shares, but this had never been enforced on the file server.
I have implemented linux group quotas on the

Domain Logon Credential Caching
Folks,
This posting is made so that others who search for infromation on how to
configure Samba for username and password caching will find it.
Samba does not control client-side password caching.
Caching of domain logon credentials is a client-side activity. There are
registry settings on the Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Profesional
clients that control logon credential caching.

Re LDAP adding workstation accounts fails (but not really???)
I very much appreciate the help thus far, but I think it has strayed a
bit from the actual problem.
The problem is that when I join a system to the samba domain it
creates /some/ but not all of the required attributes for the computer
account. The process then fails as samba looks in the wrong part of my
directory server. I would strongly prefer to put the workstation
accounts in their own tree

Windows 2000 pro doesn't join a domain with Samba+Ldap (linux)
Hello people...
I had to sign up in the list because I don't know what else I could
do... I can't find my error anywhere!! :(
The thing is that I have a Linux server with Ldap (openldap2.3) +
Samba (3.0.26) + smldaptools (0.9.2-3), and I want to authenticate a
windows 2000 Professional client machine against that server, but it
won't work!!
The domain is called "JOME", and

Stack dumps in use_block_rsv while rebalancing ("block rsv returned -28")
I already posted this in the thread "ENOSPC with mkdir and rename",
but now I have a device with 100GB unallocated on the "btrfs fi sh"
output, and when I run a rebalance of the form:
> btrfs filesystem balance start -dusage=50 -musage=10 "$mount"
I get more than 75 of such stack traces contaminating the klog. I've
put some of them up in a gist here:

Use other default credential cache then FILE
/Hello, i m playing around with MIT kerberos at moment and got the
problem that openssh do not honor the "default_ccache_name" variable in
/etc/krb5.conf. It looks like the FILE based credential cache is
hardcoded and openssh set KRB5CCNAME to it, but i would like to use the
KEYRING cache. Is there any way to tell ssh to use the cache set in
"default_ccache_name"? /Many

Base pam_krb5 on recent -STABLE and credential cache storage
Hello,
Prequalify: I'm quite a novice w/ Kerberos, so my terminology and
assumptions may be rough. Also, please CC me since I'm not a list
subscriber.
I'm running a fairly recent -STABLE [1] and have installed the base
Heimdal Kerberos implementation via the MAKE_KERBEROS5 knob in
/etc/make.conf. I'm having the problem that I don't see a cached
credential file being created

Credential Manager problem (error 0x80090345) and older samba versions
Dear samba ppl,
I have the same problem as described in this link [1] (error
0x80090345 when trying to open Credential Manager under Windows 8.1)
with a machine joined to an NT4 style domain with a samba 3 DC. So far
the only workaround is to uninstall the updates mentioned in the
thread. The problem was fixed for samba 4 as mentioned here [2]. Is
there any chance that this might be fixed for

Standard SSH credential passing + get AFS PAG + token
These Scripts at location /afs/rrz.uni-koeln.de/wsadmin/contrib/ :
Init-ssh2
krb5gettoken
xauthrc
ssh2
enable credential (krb5 ticket) passing and get you a PAG and AFS token on
subsequent login. This should work with any ssh. NO patches.
Enjoy & send bugs/cents to: Laatsch at Uni-Koeln.DE

Bug simulate.lm() --> needs credential to report it
Dear R developers,
I did not get any reply concerning my email from last week concerning the
bug I found in stats::simulate.lm(). The bug shows up when called upon a
GLM with family gaussian(). I am confident it is a genuine bug related to a
mix-up between weights and prior weights that only impacts the gaussian
family (other families have their own simulate functions defined
elsewhere).

patch: disable credential forwarding after password auth.
Dear list,
since the order of authentication and AFS token/KRB TGT forwarding
changed (around 3.0), we have had problems with users accidentally
overwriting their credentials from a "password" login with forwarded
credentials. E.g. user A logs in as user B, but stays with the AFS
permissions of user A. A workaround is to use "-k" on these sessions,
but "it worked without

invalid credential using openldap
Hi,
What I have been trying to achieve is to be able to authenticate users through openLDAP while using Postfix, Dovecot as IMAP server and squirrelmail.
I keep getting the following error messages when trying to login to squirrelmail

Accessing shares with machine account credential...
[I'm not subscribed to this list, only to the italian one that redirect
me here... so please put me on CC.]
I've found only an old post:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2005-June/041408.html
that say little or nothing.
I've done some test, but clearly with no clue at all, so simply could
be that i'm missing something...
