Samba 3.0.25b: smbd 99% CPU utilisation with opened MS Word doc
Hi I'm trying to upgrade from Samba 3.0.23c on FC4 to 3.0.25b from Samba
sources.
Everything appears to function correctly until an MS word document is
opened from a share - the file opens but the smbd process in question
rockets to 99%+ CPU, stays there & needs kill -9'ing to stop it. This
happens reliably.
I have an appropriate strace & a level 7 log but can't see anything

smbd using 99.9% CPU with MS Office docs
I made a post a few weeks ago regarding this but was unable to find a
solution. This is the situation:
+ I'm attempting to upgrade from samba 3.0.23a (Fedora core package
3.0.23a-1.fc4.1) to the latest version compiled from Samba source.
+ When using the latest version (or 3.0.25b), Win clients can
authenticate & access shares fine, but attempting to open any kind of MS
Office doc (not

Everything went fine excpet they're having an issue with Excel files
going RO which perhaps is related to acls.

removing last piece of grid graphical output with grid.remove
Hello -
If I create multiple pieces of output in grid, and use grid.remove() to
try to remove the output from the graphics device, I cannot seem to
remove the final piece of output from the device until I 'refresh' the
graphics device by giving it focus. The function grid.remove() does
appear to remove the grob from the display list, however.
I noticed this when the example on page

smbldap-useradd not creating machine accounts in correct fashion
Hi,
I have OpenLDAP working here generally without problems for a variety of
applications including the management of Samba. Functioning user
accounts can be created via 'smbldap-useradd' with the proper samba
attributes being added in LDAP, however...
Something odd is happening when I (or samba) tries to create a machine
account with 'smbldap-useradd -w test1$' - an entry is

Problem with LDAP failover config
Hi,
I have working master & slave OpenLDAP servers the Samba PDC works
correctly when using either as the passdb backend.
However, when configuring for LDAP failover as per this doc:
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/2000users.html
Samba doesn't work & the logs fill up with this:
ldap_initialize: Bad parameter to an ldap routine

conflicting domain portions are not supported for NETLOGON calls
I'm seeing this error in my log file under samba-3.0beta3.
"The conflicting domain portions are not supported for NETLOGON calls."
I have created a unix/samba user testuser and a unix group pwruser.
The testuser's primary group is pwruser.
Next I mapped the ntgroup to pwruser with:
"net groupmap modify ntgroup="Power Users" unixgroup=pwruser"
and net

Groups not mapping correctly.
Hello,
At one time I installed an alpha of samba-3.0 and it had a smbgroupedit
command that mapped unix and windows groups via webmin. This seems to
be missing in beta3, has it been depreciated?
Also I can't seem to get the group map to take effect unless the unix
group is the users primary group. Either that or I don't understand
something.
I do not have winbindd running or any idmap

Power Users - Is it possible?
Is it possible to have 2000 windows machines reconize Domain Users under
the local Power Users group? Right now I'm using samba 3beta3. Do I
need kerberos support compiled in? Thanks for your help

ProLiant Support Pack PSP 8.11: hpplduinstaller takes 100% CPU and hangs / hpplduioss defunct
Hi folks,
We use CentOS 5.2 (with latest errata) 64bit on DL380 G5 and trying to

Winbind+nss working on one centOS 5.2 box but not another
Hi all,
I have an odd situation on my hands:
* Two CentOS 5.2 boxes both joined to an AD domain.
* Same samba version (3.0.28-1.el5_2.1) smb.conf, only the netbios names
differ
* Can enumerate users and groups using winbind -{u,g} on both.
* nss doesn't enumerate users & groups on one (same lib versions, same
conf file).

Edge Rails and Not Working So Consistently
I just started using edge rails and I wanted to know if it was just
me or others are having the same problem.
With edge rails I am getting a lot of uninitialized constat [Model
Name] -> where Model Name changes depending on which model I am
accessing. If I hit refresh it sometimes works but not often. Do I
have to make a change when I use edge rails?

How to extract rows from matrices consistently?
Hi,
How do I ensure that I always get a matrix back when I extract rows?
The mickey-mouse example doesn't matter much, but if instead of 1:2 or
1, I have a vector which may have 1 or more values, then I'm in trouble.
Any way to make this consistently return a matrix?
Thx in advance.

Consistently prefix executables
Inspired by Sylvestre's version suffix proposal, I want to bring up my
past request to clean up the executable names in llvm's bin/.
Looking through a 6.0 install, I see the following files which
would ideally be prefixed with "ll" or similar:
FileCheck
bugpoint
c-index-test
count
find-all-symbols
modularize
not
obj2yaml
opt
sancov
sanstats
scan-build
scan-view

[PATCH 2/2] virtio-net: make all RX paths handle erors consistently
receive mergeable now handles errors internally.
Do same for big and small packet paths, otherwise
the logic is too hard to follow.

While I can't point at a bug this fixes, I'm not sure
there's no bug in the existing logic.
So not exactly a bug fix bug I think it's justified for net.

I don't see a bug in current code but I think it's still
a good idea to queue this in 3.13, for consistency.

[LLVMdev] MCAsmStreamer: format symbol attributes consistently
This is just a cosmetic change in MCAsmStreamer.cpp/EmitSymbolAttribute: all attributes have now a \t before and after, as done for '.type'.
This makes the output look consistent, as well as help some third party assemblers expecting the attributes to be in the second column.
The patch applies cleanly on the svn head.

FYI, macho-dump doesn't exist anymore.
That said, I understand the concerns for binutils equivalent (and maybe
opt), but I don't think it's too much a
