Samba PDC, LDAP, IDMAP backend not working
Please help. I've been searching for days, trying nearly everything I can find that seems relevant, but I can't get this working. I am able to create users, login to Windows systems joined to the SAMBA domain as those users, but filesystem ACLs on Windows Domain Member Servers do not work which I suspect is due to my IDMAP OU is empty. wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain

try 2: group setting doesn't work
Yesterday i had it working, today it breaks.. :( But at least i've turned on logging and can pass you the relevant section of the log ;) When i try to connect to the share 'web', NT throws an error 'The specified group does not exist' and refuses to connect. I'm using virtually the same smb.conf file; I've tried it without the first 3 lines in [global], same

AD Primary Group Masked by Local Primary Group
Solaris 8, Samba 3.0.1, Winbind with LDAP backend and security = ads. This may or may not be a problem, depending on what is "expected behaviour". We came across a user that was defined both locally and in AD. Their local primary group, call it "localgrp", was not the same as their global primary group, call it "globalgrp". One important note is that by using an

Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-11 Could not convert sid S-1-5-11 to gid # wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13 Could not convert sid S-1-5-13 to gid (S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server Users.) This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d. Now it is back again. How can I get this working? I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue? The winbind log looks like

winbind problem with BUILTIN?
I shut my Samba PDC and all members down for some PC rearranging and now having an issue with one member server on Ubuntu 10.12 with Samba 3.5.4 after restarting all. It would not connect, I tried to remove the computer name from LDAP and re-join the domain, that was successfully joined and the entry reappears in LDAP, but it times out when trying to connect to that host via the network or

Problem with Everyone SID (S-1-1-0)
Hi, I'm running Samba 3.0.25b as a PDC. In log.smbd (at Debug level 10) I have noticed: log.smbd: Could not convert SID S-1-1-0 to gid, ignoring it This problem occurs in function sid_to_gid in lookup_sid.c. An attempt is made for winbind to then resolve the group, but this results in log.winbindd: Could not find domain for sid S-1-1-0 log.winbindd: sid2gid_lookupsid_recv: Could not

Some problems updating to 3.0.25
We've updated from 3.0.24 to 3.0.25 and we've noticed some minor problems such as some clients had to reboot in order to mount the share. And the log is now showing this warning all the time: WARNING: Winbindd not running, mapping ids with legacy code [2007/05/17 08:57:37, 2] passdb/lookup_sid.c:sid_to_gid(1435) We are thinking to revert to the previous version 3.0.24 which works

Samba 3.0.23c PANIC during registering computer into domain
Hello, Recently I've had a chance to test samba 3.0.23c on debian etch (unstable) with LDAP as PDC. I found two problems, however I'd like to describe the second one: 1) I added users to LDAP so I could connect and I was able to authorize myself in samba via LDAP 2) I added my computer to LDAP but didn't check the SambaSID for my machine - in fact it was different than sambaSID

smbd and pdbedit segfault
Greetings! I've got a Debian server running Samba that has a rather odd problem I was hoping someone out there could help with. Whenever a particular user is referenced, either in in smbd or pdbedit, a segfault or security context stack overflow is generated. Here is what I have tried to fix the problem: Used tdbbackup on all the *.tdb files I could find and replaced the current ones

WinXP SP2 winlogon.exe blue screen to death
Hi there, I have another problem on WinXP SP2 with samba.3.0.20a. Somehow, in a random situation, once user logged onto the workstations, they were prompted with the winlogon.exe Fatal error + blue screen to death then self-reboot. When I checked out the log from windows, it said there's problem on msgina.dll from WinXP SP2. However, another user can successfully logon to the same workstation

Problems with Ad and Winbind
Hi folks, I'm using Samba 3beta running on RH 8.0 and I'd like to authentificate against a Microsoft AD. This all works very well, except to the fact that not ALL AD Users are mapped to my Unixbox! When starting getent passwd, my UnixBox shows just my User from passwd and some of the AD User - not all!! Looking through my User with the command wbinfo -u all AD users are shown correctly!

winbind and group permissions
Hello, I have spent the last week and a bit searching google and reading documentation trying to get this figured. At this point, I have read the same things so many times, I am not even sure I would notice the answer any more.... time to ask for some help. Having gone through what seems like hundreds of posts, I have begun to see where the problem gets lost in the information provided when
