Understanding why Dovecot unexpectedly died
Hi list! I use Dovecot 1.2.17 (I can't upgrade right now, due to many reasons), controlled by Pacemaker (I have an HA-Cluster). Now I see that Pacemaker restarts often Dovecot. I wrote my own script to manage Dovecot, since Pacemaker does not have his own. My script, by the "monitor" section has this: monitor) if [ ! -e $OCF_RESKEY_pid ]; then

dying network drive connections with Windows 2000 Pro/Samba 3.0.7
Hi I'm experiencing trouble with a Samba 3.0.7 installation and Windows 2000 Professional clients that lose their network drives after some time. The Samba server is acting as a Domain Controller for a single subnet with about 10 clients (W2k Pro with Service Pack 2-4). At some (random) time after the login the clients all have the same problem: the network drive mappings die (sometimes a

Samba on VPS in internet?
Hello all, as I am still struggling with my replicating Samba setup (haven´t yet tried Andrew´s last suggestion - thanks for your support anyway), I am wondering whether I can put a DC on a virtual private server I run anyway. I think the obvious approach would be to run a VPN and configure Samba to listen on the tun interface, but unfortunately my routers don´t run standard VPN protocols. Thus I

Samba PDC not in network environment (Windows 7/8)
I recently changed my clients (3 notebooks, 2 desktop pcs) from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7/8 Pro. I followed the guides that can be found on samba.org and all over the internet. Client migration worked after some minor trouble. There is only one thing left that I could no resolve the last few days. All clients see each other under "Network" but no client sees my samba server.

samba PDC with NIS, or other solution?
We have a network with Windows NT/2000, SGI's, Linux, Macintosh, AIX. Our user account/passwords for all our machines is handled by NIS on an AIX machine. Our unix machines autheticate through NIS. Our windows machines authenticate by loging on to an NT server acting as the PDC, and that PDC has a service installed on it called "WinDD NIS" (made by Tektronix I think) which contacts
