applying complex functions by groups
Hi,
I have a matrix that is indexed by groups and looks something like this:
1 1 2
1 2 1
.
.
.
2 1 1
2 1 2
2 NA 1
.
.
.
3 1 NA
3 2 NA
etc.
The first column is the group variable and I would like to apply categorical data imputation functions to the other two columns, doing so by groups. I have tried APPLY, BY and SPLIT, but have not had much luck getting it to work. I wonder if anyone has

inbound call voip providers
Hello:
I want to have a local telephone number that, when the people calls this
number (via mobile or normal PSTN), the voip provider stablishes a SIP
session to my asterisk box.
It is possible?
If yes...
What providers have this service in Europe?
It is difficult to configure and get things working ok?
Will my asterisk box see the mobile or normal PSTN phone# that is calling the
number

zoo matrix manipulation
Hi,
I have this dataset where columns z1.3 and z1.4 are full of NA's. I want
to perform some calculations in the remaining columns, but after doing
this, I want to recontruct the original matrix. I can with:
out <- which( colMeans( is.na( z ) ) == 1 )
gd<-z[, - out]
select the columns full of NA's and those without that pattern. Then
after doing the calculus I need to

Trying to get IE onto my MacBook
MacBook OS X 10.4.11 - Sorry, I'm pretty much one of the peasants when it comes to some of this; need to use Internet Explorer and Excel (required for work) on my MacBook; have been trying to learn how to do this -- short of keeping Mr. Gates wealthy; my understanding (correct?incorrect?) is that one way to manage this is to load Wine onto the Mac, and then I can load in the two MS programs.

I swear I have read almost all the posted messages about this issue, but
it's evident I couldn't find an answer (surely esay) to my problem. What
I want is the following:
Make 8 days aggregates from a daily series like this (dput output):

Storage upgrade maildir suggestions?
Hi,
we start to run out of diskspace soon as our users start to keep mails
for longer time periods. That's fine, but space consuming.
The maildirs are about 1 TB in total, and not long ago we enabled zlib
which is very nice.
Now I have some thoughts about the next steps:
a) Migrating the whole system to a new server with more storage?
b) Install a virtual server for the mailsystem and an

world read permissions on system level files
From: "Biyala, Urvi" <Urvi.Biyala@bankofamerica.com>
>I need to trim the world read permissions from the system sensitive files. I know that it would be safe to trim the permissions from many of the configuration files in /etc. But I was not sure if I could safely tighten the permissions form other system files. Does any one know of any documentation on this. Or can any one

Need help understanding SIP phones
Greetings
i have been using asterisk with good success with soft phones and I
need to purchase some Sip capable phones to test.
How would/do vendor specific phones like cisco 7900's and 3Com VCX 3100
series phones work SIP to SIP if they download the protocol from the
Vendor call centers?
I want to build my own with Asterisk, and use different phones. They

questions regarding zlib plugin
Hi,
faced with a current space problem on our dovecot 2.2.18 server, I
thought about using the zlib plugin.
My questions:
- is it really as simple as adding the options to the conf files as
described in the docs :) ? http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Zlib
- As this just compresses new messages; dose anybody has a sort of
simple cron or whatever script or best practice how to compress existing

overview zlib efficiency?
Hi,
may be someone has already done that: Do you have a script(?) tool which
shows the efficiency of the mail compression if zlib is used?
Something that shows the uncompressed size vrs. the compressed.
Thanks for hints! /G?tz
