winbind lookup errors
Hello Samba folks, I have recently begun seeing some disturbing behavior from winbind. Winbind will fail to look up users and groups. Examples: The machine is configured to use winbind as a nss module. "getent passwd <username>" will yield no results. "wbinfo -n <username>" will yield "Could not lookup name <username>" "wbinfo -g"

Homedrive mapping
Hello everyone, We are making extensive use of the homedrive mapping fields in AD. (automagically mapping a drive letter to a UNC path without a logon script) Since we sp2 applied to our clients, none of them have been able to map their home drives to our samba servers. According to Microsoft's q-article, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q308580&, "this

A user named homes and homedir mounting
I run a pretty large network, we have plenty of users. Most of our users have their windows home directories on Samba servers. One of these many users has the username "homes". This user is unable to map their home directory (\\sambaserver\homes). It seems that this could be a conflict between the "homes" share definition and his username and samba getting confused.

Cannot Get Samba to Work Without Encrypted Password with Legacy Client
Hi there, I have looked for a solution to my problem on the Internet (and in particular this mailing list), but couldn't find one, probably due to searching for the wrong thing :-) I have an RPI running Samba version 4.9.5-Debian. "pdbedit -L" shows that the user "smbuser" exists. I used "smbpassword" to set the password of "smbuser". I also have

Hello all, I guess that everyone knows the message "the trust relation between this workstation and the primary domain failed" when joining Win7 into samba domain. Unfortunately, the same problem appeared few hours/days after the machine was successfully joined in the domain(with reg keys from https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7) and user able to use it for awhile. samba 3.0.0 Authentication with NTsp4
We have been running Samba 2.2.x for some time without problems. Servers are Solaris 2.7 and RH Linux. Clients are a mix of WinNTsp4 and Win2K. Server setting is for plaintext (un-encryted passwords). On upgrading the Samba server to 3.0.0, (smb.conf file unchanged): All WinNt clients fail to authenticare. Win2k clients authenticate correctly. On reverting back to Samba 2.2.x, all cleints

Problem: User authentication stopped working
Hi I have several Samba servers which have been running for almost two years without any problem. Recently I rebooted one of those servers and have the following problem: the join to the domain is OK but all user authentications fail. I mean nobody can "connect" a share. The system I rebooted is half of a two node cluster, the other node with exactly the same configuration, up 230 days,

winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi, My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory. I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW. wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning, but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are correct) /lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

win 10 login - Not enough storage is available to process this command
Is this one computer causing issues, or more than one? When logged in to the computer, what do you see in the Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) relating to the time of your login? Are you using Samba in NT mode or AD mode? Can you run a command as an AD user (for example, click on Start, press Shift as you right-click on an application and choose "Run as other user...", and enter a domain

Problems mapping users' names
All, I've recently upgraded my Samba server from 2.2.8 to 3.0.1. I also changed the security option to "security=Domain" and added it to the AD domain. The issue that I am having is that some users cannot access a share that is accessible to group members only, even though they are in the group. It appears that certain users on certain machines have a hard time mapping the

Is Samba PDC + NT4 DOM Trust using NTLMv2 possible?
My Question: ------------ Is it possible to get 2-way Interdomain Trust relationships working between a Samba domain and an NT4 SP6a domain, while restricting all password hashes to NTLMv2 only? Everything works except the inter-domain trust I'm able to get the NT4 domain to trust the Samba domain, but not the other way around. My System: ---------- I have a perfectly running Samba domain
