Joining NT domain]
So the samba domain should trust the NT4 domain. On a windows machine
in the NT4 domain, did you use User Manager for Domains to add the samba
domain as a trusting domain?
It seems a little backwards to me, but the domain that wants to be
trusted creates an account for the domain that will trust it.
I would get the following error unless I did the NT4 side 1st:
# net rpc trustdom

2. restart smbd and nmbd
3. log on to the domain, make use of all of the nice stuff.
4. reboot the Linux box 5. upon attempting to rejoin the domain I observe

Problem with NT -> Samba User Configuration: Probably very simple
Hi All,
my problem is I am unable to configure an NT user to access a UNIX Tru64
5.1b share from their PC. I am running Samba 2.0.7 and it runs as a domain
member.
Here are the steps I have completed without success:
Assuming <ntuser> is the NT username used to log into the NT workstation/PC.
1. Created UNIX user <username>
2. Created UNIX directory

Samba - XP performance problem
Hello There,
After having googled the whole internet for days I decided to go public
with this issue.
The result of my google queries so far is that there are plenty of
others with the very same problem I have and noone posted a reasonable
answer to this:
Using Samba 3 with XP gets bad performance. I tested this on Tru64 5.1b
and FreeBSD 5.3 with the very same symptoms.

Samba 3.0.33 joining Samba 4 domain
Hello,
I am testing Samba 4's active directory with the latest master copy.
I have joined a Windows 7 desktop to it fine without any issues. From Windows 7, I can browse to the AD controller IP address in Windows and see the standard Active Directory shares.
I attempted to join Samba 3.0.33 (CentOS 5.8) to Samba 4's active directory, and the join worked as expected. I can browse to

sshd takes 15 minutes to start
Hi all,
We are running OpenSSH v3.4p1 on three ES340 Alpha which run Tru64 v5.1A.
The last couple of weeks, the system hangs at bootup for 15 minutes at the
point where it is bring up sshd. When I manually stop and start sshd, it still
takes 15 minutes. I manually ran sshd with the -ddd level 3 debug option.
sshd hanges at the message which states it is creating a randomized seed. It

joining samba 3.0.25b on aix to a native w2k domain
Hi,
I've compiled Samba 3.0.25b on an AIX 5.2 machine without any hassle
(also without ADS / Kerberos Support!) but getting it to join our AD
domain is a true PITA.
The AIX machine is called NLXDRZ05, the domain D-REIZEN.INTRA (could
also be D-REIZEN, I'm a Unix guy, not an NT guy and I usually leave that
stuff to the people that know what they're doing)
I've had a machine

Checking for strtoumax and strtoimax
Tru64 5.1b PK6 : dovecot 1.1.7 : cc
Configuration checks for strtoumax and strtoimax are positive but both are
unresolved during compilation. strtoq and strtouq checks are negative.
I can modify compat.c to use "unsigned long ret = 0;" in place of strtoumax
(does this break anything?) and/but I would like to know how to handle strtoimax.
Thanks in advance.

Trouble Joining Active Directory
Having trouble getting Samba 3.0.24 on Debian Stable to join an Active Directory domain. I previously thought the problem stemmed from an earlier bug that has been fixed in 3.0.23 that required a user to have full Admin rights. I do not have full admin rights. I do have rights to add machines which I do regularily. Read through Samba ADS Domain Membership. Below is my kinit, smb.conf and debug

I've managed to join Windows machines to domain but not linux machine.

3.0.7 joining NT4 domain: no go
Hi,
I am still wrestling with WinNT4 domain PDC which does not like
a Samba member. I updated PDC to SP6a. I also verified that
this admin username/password indeed can be successfully
used to join an NT workstation to the domain.
I narrowed samba failure down to net join silent failure.
It says "Joined domain PORT" but logs reveal that actually
joining failed.
I did several runs of
