Shares visible depending on used share name's initial letter
Hi, I'm using latest Samba version 2.2.8a and are preparing a production server system, which was working fine recently in development stage. My system is basically a SuSE 8.2 Pro with some of the applications being installed manually from source. I'm using CUPS as printer backend and add printers to the system using lpadmin Afterwards I make a reload (or even a restart) of smbd and

"conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi list, sorry in case I do ask a FAQ, but I did in fact find some more mentions of a problem like this, but always without a solution. I upgraded our Samba server today (from 2.10/SuSE to 3.0x/Debian) and have problems with some of the clients (Windows XP). When trying to access a share from these clients, I get a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, and increasing the log level reveals several occurences

This is on RHE4, I am getting an invalid DN error. Is there a good resource site for this type of configuration issue? There is a lot of info that comes up through google but I am having no luck finding anything relevant (or that seems relevant to me). Missing sids for domain administrator?
Hi, I'm working on bug https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6592 and something that has apparently changed in my setup is preventing me from testing the final stages of the fix. I have a machine running Samba server and joined to the domain, and am accessing that from the W2K3 domain server logged, logged into the latter as the domain administrator. But the problem is that in its access

Problems with Samba and Active Directory
Afternoon! Let me apologize first if this is something soooo simple, but i have been working on this for days and I'm still stuck on one part. Where to start. Small user environment (under 100 users) using Active Directory on Win 2k3 server. Running Fedora 8 on a server, and I am trying to get it added to the domain, and to be able to access a share using Windows usernames and passwords.

The GID 1002 ist configured as my primary group in /etc/passwd. This also happens with other usernames. After deleting group_mapping.tdb this worked for some hours but the error came back.

Unable to get default yp domain
Hi, running here samba-ldap-pdc (debian sarge, samba 3.0.14a-3sarge, cups). Domain users can delete their own print jobs. But they should also be able to delete print jobs of other domain users. But this does not work, because of access problems. net groupmap list Domain Users (S-1-5-21-2984023303-172644929-1026171850-1222) -> archi Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-2984023303-172644929-1026171850-512)

samba-3 problem joining ws to domain
Howdi, I can't add a w2k workstation to samba3 domain with my username. If I add my username to "admin users" list, then I can add the box to domain (but overritten by euid). My goal is, that joining domain can be done without using "admin users" option. Groupmapping is done and works. When machine is in domain and log in, I get full admin rights on that box. Removing the

printing problems and permissions
I've got Samba 2.2.3 running as a PDC for some Win9x and WinNT clients. Everything seems to be fine except that occasionally (but rather often, at least every second day) printing from one of the NT-clients is impossible. In the log file it says (word wrap here in the editor): [2002/02/26 18:04:21, 0] printing/printing.c:print_job_start(952) print_job_start: insufficient permissions to open
