Creating a machine account manually (EMC, Samba PDC)
Greetings, I am trying to join a EMC Celerra NS502 CIFS server to our Samba 3.0.21a domain controller. According to EMC, I was told that we need to manually create the machine account first. How is the best way to do this? We are using an openLDAP backend, using the idealx scripts. Joining a windows machine from the computer properties dialog of that machine works perfectly. Cyclic authentications from user already logged on.
This problem is being experienced on a RedHat Enterprise 4 server, with Samba version 3.0.11. The user seems to be repeatedly authenticating every few seconds, even though they have been authenticated once, are logged onto the domain, and using various shares. Only one of the 30 users on the network has this issue. Any ideas would be appreciated. ----------------------Log

Problem adding user to Administrator list
Hi, all, We are using Samba 3.0.10 with an LDAP backend. It's been working fine for a long time. One strange thing that has come up today : I cannot add 1 specific domain user to the local Administrator group of Windows servers that are also in the domain. Adding the user to the admin group on a workstation works just fine. Adding other users to the admin group on the Windows servers
