mod_auth_ntlm_winbind + IE problem
Hi there, I'm having problems with the mod_auth_ntlm_winbind module. Background: - Apache 2 server running on Fedora 4. - Computer is a member of the domain (security = ADS) - The authentication seems to work fine, I can access shares, wbinfo -u/-g returns a valid output, etc. The authentication is enabled in Apache for a specific folder only. <Directory

I can't get mod_auth_ntlm_winbind to work
Scenario: Centos 5 x86_64 machine with samba-3.0.23c-2.el5.2.0.2 The machine is a PDC, Windows 2000 users logon, get profiles, etc. I'm trying to set up a folder in apache that uses NTLM authentication using mod_auth_ntlm_winbind. I've followed: http://adldap.sourceforge.net/mod_auth_ntlm_winbind.php winbindd is running, and ntlm_auth seems to work: # ntlm_auth --username=pdc2

mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
I'm having some difficulties with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind. Winbind and samba are configured and working well, I can create shares and set permissions to AD groups. Wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine. Whenever I try and hit the folder with a web browser, it prompts for a username and password and then comes back with a 401: authorization required. In the apache error log I get: [2007/03/01

[Request] mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
http://adldap.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mod_auth_ntlm_winbind I have built an rpm for my own use, by grabbing the source files from sambas' web interface to cvs. It would be real neat to have it packaged and available through yum. -- Cheers, Morten :wq

mod_auth_ntlm_winbind SSO
Hello We are trying to implement SSO with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind. We followed the instructions on [1], but have the issue that users can not authenticate with web browsers. In addition to that document we did the following extra steps: - chown root:winbind /var/lib/samba/winbindd_privileged/ - apache user (vagrant) is in group winbind - net setauthuser -U vagrant - smb.conf has: winbind use

'winbind use default domain' doesn't appear to work with ntlm_auth
Hi everyone, We just upgraded Samba from 4.4.5 to 4.6.5 and appear to be experiencing a problem with authentication, when the RPC domain is not supplied as part of the username. I have two scenarios where this has cropped up: RADIUS authentication using ntlm_auth Apache HTTP using mod_auth_ntlm_winbind RADIUS authentication: We use the freeRADIUS 'mschap' module to provide

mod_auth_ntlm_winbind issues - does apache connection mgmt support NTLM?
Hello, I have configured Samba 3 with Winbind and installed the mod_auth_ntlm_winbind module deployed on Ubuntu 10 which is used by a web application to enforce logging using windows domain credentials. I have verified that all these layers are properly working? ie.. wbinfo ?u (good), wbinfo ?a <username> (good), ntlm_auth ?helper-protocol=squid-2.5-basic (good). Next step I

Samba 3 AD Member Server Strangeness
All, I'm trying to configure a Samba 3 AD member server including winbind. I'm on RHEL 6.6, so I'm using Samba version 3.6.23. Getting users and groups through winbind on FreeBSD
Hi We have a few Linux samba servers that authenticate against our Active Directory domain (Small Business Server 2000). I've added a couple of disks to a FreeBSD 6.1 server in our office and I'm trying to achieve the same but not having much luck. I'm new to all this... I'm not our network admin, but he is BSD-phobic so I thought it was safer to do it myself.

Ntlm_auth Problem (resend)
I sent this message and realized I hadn't included info on the environment so I am resending it. I am running red hat enterprise linux 4 with samba version 3.0.10-1.4E.2. Apache version is 2.0.52. I also included output from running ntlm_auth on the command line with diagnostics. This fails but it only seems to try plaintext auth which will not work (see below). I am having problems with

Mapping SID>UID (and reverse)
Hi I have a new Samba 3.6.10 server running on Solaris 10. The server is a member of the local Active Directory (which I'll call "DOMAIN" in this email). Unix username resolution is via NIS. All domain users have NIS usernames as well.Winbind is running to allow SMBD to perform sid>uid mapping and I have setup idmap_nss. I am not using winbind in /etc/nsswitch.conf as NIS

Bad Password
Everyone, I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers. On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of times. I am 100% confident I am

winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length
Hi, I am using squid+ntlm-helper+samba+winbindd. Squid mailing list told me to try this one. When using the setting "Send NTLMv2 Response only" on my windows VISTA machines I get this error message in my logs. winbindd_pam_auth_crap: invalid password length. As soon as I change the setting to "Send NTLMv2 if negotiated" it works. Samba v3.2.5 Winbindd v3.2.5 Squid

Failing identification of users in trusted domains?
Hi all. I'm getting mad at this. I use winbind to authenticate users in multiple domains from AD. The config worked well, before upgrading from 3.5.3 to 3.5.10 in Mandriva. Now, if I 'winbind -i user.name' (so using the joined domain PERSONALE) I get the correct info, but if I do a 'winbind -i STUDENTI\\another.name' the answer is a 'Could not get info for user

winbindd stays at 100% CPU having joined a domain
[ Please would anyone replying to this maintain the Cc list here as my dear colleague is not subscribed to this mailing list. ] Hello all, I am trying to track down an oddity with winbindd. We're using samba only to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per: [global] workgroup = TEDDYBEARS netbios name = SMOOTHWALL realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL security = ads

samba 3.5.6 authentication with AD 2008
Hi guys, I have installed samba with AD authentication. Ntlm_auth is working without any issue with the domain. But if I connect using my windows pc, to the samba share, it gives following error. Wbinfo -u / wbinfo -g giving the correct output. And ntlm_auth also working without any issue. If I try to connect from my windows PC to the samba share it gives following error. [2010/12/01

samba/winbind/apache/sso question
I have been trying to get SSO to work correctly with the following packages, and I appear I am missing something and I was wondering if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction? I am currently using the "auth_ntlm_winbind_module" for apache to try and authenticate and was hoping to get SSO to work. I have gone through all the steps on SEVERAL sites trying to figure out how
