Samba 3.0.2x with trusted domains.
Hello all, we have a samba server on a SLES9 linux box. It is connected to an active directory with multiple trusted domains. With this server, we have strange problems with users/groups in others domains. The users/groups listed in smb.conf that are part of trusted domains are not take in account to access the shares. We cannot as well set ACL correctly on filesystem. This is not an

Hi all I've written a few mails to the list hoping that I might get some hint to what mistake I've been making in configuring my samba server with acl support, but haven't been able to figure out much to date. I'm sending some parts of my log files with a description of my problem as a last hope-- I will have to go through the manuals from cover to cover if I dont get an

Winbind being flakey
After some more screwing around with leaving and rejoining the ADS domain I was finally able to access a share with "valid users =" set to a domain group I was a member of. The _only_ change I made after this was to add yet another group to the valid users on the share and restart samba...after that I could no longer access the share. I removed the additional group, restarted samba and

Hi everyone I've been trying to setup samba file sharing with acl support for the past few days. Trouble resolving some group membership after upgrade from 4.8 to 4.10
Hello, I had been running Samba 4.8 for a few years without any problems, and then upgraded to 4.10. Since then I?ve been having problems with some accounts connecting, while some connect fine still. I haven?t been able to figure out why. My server is a relatively simple standalone server, using the LDAP password backend. A failing user authenticates OK and ends up like this in the logs:

Problems w/ winbind and AD group membership
Hello friends, I am using samba to join a linux box to an active directory domain to use as a file server. I would like to be able to control access to shares based on AD domain groups. However, even though winbind seems to be seeing the groups fine, samba is not granting access to users who are members of the group. I am able to successfully join the system to the domain and granting access to

I just recently upgraded to opensuse 11.4. basic smbd is running mostly fine (some name res-errors, login server missing, (can't connect to Domain service). Notably nmbd won't start due to undefined symbols: /usr/sbin/nmbd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/nmbd: undefined symbol: _talloc_realloc_array. ldd -r shows a bunch of similar undefined symbols (shown further below). my samba rpm

[PATCH 2/4] p2v: fix dependencies for SLES / openSUSE
Use the common denominator for SLES and openSUSE in the dependencies. For example most of NetworkManager pieces and metacity aren't provided on SLES. ifconfig is in the net-tools-deprecated package in openSUSE Factory, which means after openSUSE Leap 42.2. Older versions have it in the net-tools package. Adding this complexity only to add ifconfig because sysadmins prefer it isn't too

Excessive traffic causing slow logons
I am seeing some extremely slow logons to my SUSE servers. All are configured exactly the same. When I attempt to log on, I can enter my domain (AD) account without any problems. I then enter my password and sit and wait for several minutes until it eventually takes me to my desktop. In attempting to debug the problem, we have been able to see millions of calls to the domain controller. They
