Winbind 3.0.25-pre2 problems with sid2uid
Hi,
I have tested winbind in samba-3.0.25-pre2 and encountered some problems. We have a working config with Linux samba-3.0.23d and W2k3 AD R2 rfc2307bis, but when I switch to 3.0.25 it stopped working. I am not quite familiar with the new configuration directives for idmap, but the old config did not work either with 3.0.25, so I tried to use the new ones.
Is there apparent errors in my config

repeat_every doesn''t tie in with first_run...
Ezra,
Sorry for inundating the list. In using the autostart, repeat_every,
and first_run, I noticed a behaviour I didn''t expect.
I would like the job to run starting at 2am, and then every 24 hours.
So I set first_run to Time.now.beginning_of_day + 2.hours, and
repeat_every to 24.hours.
The problem is if backgroundrb starts up at 6am (due to a code change
or server bump), then the

Winbind: SID2UID looks in own domain only ?
Hi,
Trusting domain: DOMA
Trusted domain : DOMB
We are running samba-winbind 3.0.24 and have problems when
authenticating user from a trusted domain (DOMB) (idmap backend = ad) in
to DOMA.
After some investigations, we found that when we are trying to login as
a user from DOMB, it seems that sid2uid looks in own domain only, and
fails to retrieve uid from sid.
In DOMA:
wbinfo -m shows the

Feature-request: ip based access control (libwrap)
Is there plans to use libwrap
Or is there already some kind of access control i have missed??
What i really want is a mechanism so i can say:
If The request comes from "123.121.212.0" dont offer ssl and accept plain
else demand ssl and no plain
I now have this (almost) in another imap server by xinetd and two ip addresses.
I could solve this by iptables or access list on the router

Fitting of lognormal distribution to lower tail experimental data
Hi,
I am beginner with R and need firm guidance with my problem. I have seen
some other threads discussing the subject of right censored data, but I am
not sure whether or not this problem can be regarded as such.
Data:
I have a vector with laboratory test data (strength of wood specimens,
example attached as txt-file). This data is the full sample. It is a
common view that this kind of data

Emergency - Samba Performance Consultant Required (2 hours - $500)
Hello,
I am in need of a Samba Performance Consultant immediatley.
My box is just not fast enough, and I still have 8 business hours left.
Consultant should recommend:
- fastest Samba options for our setup
- fastest Linux kernel options / sysctl parameters
- fastest Windows client options / registry settings
I expect to pay $500 for 2 hours of your time. You should be an expert.

[scriptaculous] Intermitently Disabling Clicks
I have button that slides down a menu using Effect.BlindDown, but the
function that slides it down also makes it so that the opening link
now slides the menu back in.
If the user double clicks the link (thuse opening & closing
immediatley) the slide animation breaks, then will not extend
correctly (but no JS errors). How would you go about stopping this
happening?
Also, is it just me or is

Samba-winbind under Solaris8
Dear All,
I have successfully compiled MIT krb5 and samba 3.0.28a under Solaris8. Joining an AD domain works fine and also the commands wbinfo -t, -g and -u list all of the users. getent passwd and getent group are also working. The problem now is that when i run the "group user" command it just stays there and doesn't display any users. This works fine under Linux (SLES9, RHEL4)

Interesting interaction between journal recovery and slow boots
For some time now I have been puzzled as to why certain portions
of my system boot were quite slow -- but only after journal
recoveries.
I was fearing that there was some ugly interaction between the
recovery and the use of the journal shortly afterward but alas that is
not the case. So just in case anybody else is seeing this problem and
decides to try to hunt it down, let me save you some

jpeg in R for Windows?
I have tried to put graphs in jpeg files, but even if a file is produced,
neither the graphics software nor the web browser can open such a file:
"Can't read file header". Any suggestions as to what might cause this?
BTW, the output would presumably be better as png files, but I don't really
know if I can count on my students' web browsers being able to read this
format.

Problem with dc-nics 10,11
Hi,
I have a little problem with dc10, dc11. I use three quad dc cards,
so far from dc0 up to dc8 with no problems.
All (dc0 to dc11) are displayed correctly with pciconf and with ifconfig.
The trouble is with dc10 and dc11 that they don't send any data out and
also don't react to arp requests etc. - at least using tcpdump won't show
anything coming in or going out.

samba 3.6.4 smbd dies on solaris 10 sparc64
Hi list,
Disclaimer: not a subscriber, not a samba expert, just trying to get samba
running on a Solaris 10 system.
We build samba 3.6.4 from source for various platforms. We link against our
own builds of cyrus-sasl 2.1.23, openldap 2.4.23, and openssl 1.0.0h. On
Solaris we also compile against krb5-1.10.1. Builds are done with GNU tools
whenever possible (gcc/ld/make).
The build host, as well

user login passwords are mixed up
Hello,
In what samba version is parameter "old password allowed period"
introduced?
This parameter seems be the remedy to my problem but I cannot find it with
"testparm -v | grep password"
or in my
"man smb.conf"
Does it even exist in 4.1.17 (just the regular debian package)?
In this document it says it is for samba version 4:
