Installing Packages
Hi.. I am using R as a user, another group built everything I am using. But I need to install some packages and my only internet access is via a web-proxy. I have hunted though the docs and I'm not finding anything on setting a proxy in the package install command. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

rsync hanging after working reliably for years on one of my shares
Howdy all,
I'm using rsync in conjunction with backuppc and have been backing up this share without incident for almost 3 years and it has decided to go and hang on me. Other shares on the same machine sync fine with identical settings, and nothing has changed on the backup end other than some routine dist-upgrades to keep update on security patches. I checked the apt cache and no rsync

FW: rsync hanging after working reliably for years on one of my shares
Thanks for the suggestions - I have done my best to follow them.
I inserted the debug shim script and changed the rsync executable in rsync so that it called that instead, and got the same results. Here is the tail from that:

Weird differing results when using the Wilcoxon-test
Hi,
I became a little bit confused when working with the Wilcoxon test in R.
As far as I understood, there are mainly two versions:
1) wilcox.test{stats}, which is the default and an approximation, especially,
when ties are involved
2) wilcox_test{coin}, which does calculate the distribution _exactly_ even,
with ties.
I have the following scenario:

Slow performance to samba server with OSX client
Dear List,
I'm hoping there is someone that might give me some pointers to
solving the following problem. I run Mac OSX Tiger and perform a
filecopy using Finder to a samba share on a Gentoo Linux machine
running samba version 3.0.14a. Copying a 1GB file to the fileserver
takes roughly 2 hours (33,9 MB in 4 min). This means 142 kb/s over a
Gigabit network.
Now here is the strange thing:

Difference between root as samba user and other non-root-users?
Hello together,
I am working currently with an installation of CentOS 7.3 and Samba in the
version 4.4.4. I am setting up a share for Mac-Clients with the required
vfs-modules catia, fruit and streams_xattr. I also configured two changes
on the Mac side.
/etc/nsmb.conf
[default]
signing_required=no
/etc/sysctl.conf auf dem Mac:
net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0

6.3-RELEASE-p3 recurring panics on multiple SM PDSMi+
We have 10 SuperMicro PDSMi+ 5015M-MTs that are panic'ing every few
days. This started shortly after upgrade from 6.2-RELEASE to
6.3-RELEASE with freebsd-update.
Other than switching to a debugging kernel, a little sysctl tuning,
and patching with freebsd-update, they are stock. The debugging
kernel was built from source that is also being patched with
freebsd-update.

Rsync Problems, Possible Addressed Bug?
I got this mail from a cronjob and can't figure out what is causing
rsync to crap out on me. I received the message at 5:03, when the cron
job is scheduled to run at 4:00, so total runtime is approximately an
hour.
Machine that is fetching the files is a low-end G3 running Yellowdog
3.01, rsync --version 2.5.5. It has only 128 megs of ram, but isn't
doing anything else. Transfers are

Help! Looking for the smbmount-nomtab.patch and smbmount-mtab-flags.patch
I have cross-compiled smbmount(smbmnt, smbclient) using samba-3.0.24.tar.gz,
then ported them to an ARM Arch machine whose /etc directory is read only.
The smbmount command always results in errors """Can't get /etc/mtab~ lock
filesmbmnt failed: 1"""
Someone says that If we rebuild samba with the smbmount-nomtab.patch and
smbmount-mtab-flags.patch, it would work

Patch: patches for smbmount opton documentation ( smbmount.8.xml )
Hi,
I use samba on Linux 2.6 and 2G over size file sharing.
It seems smbmount '-o lfs' need to use with large file.
but default man page doesn't say this option.
I want to edit smbmount.8.xml for lfs and unicode option.
I believe using mount.cifs is right way on latest Linux.
But one of the implementation smb_clients tools take this
lazy option.
Is it right way to change of man page

smbmount NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION problem
We have an install with sambe 3.0.10 (RHEL 4.3) server and clients. Server is security=ADS , and recently we had to set restrict workstation login in our windows domain. On linux clients (joined to domain) we are having issues with smbmount giving NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION errors, but smbclient does not have this error. Debug dumps show smbmount logging is as [DOMAIN]/[USER]@[0.0.0.0],

2.0.5 smbmount chokes on chars needing shell-escape
Apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find reference to it
anywhere.
Various windows versions allow characters in share names like " " and ")"
(space, close paren) that need to be escaped when passed to the shell.
However, it seems like the 2.0.5 smbmount calls smbmnt via the shell, and so
if you try to do something like:

smbmount won't work connecting to W2K on Samba 3
Anybody know why smbmount won't mount a Windows share on my (Fedora)
machine? Keep getting:
27009: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed
HOWEVER, using smbclient , I CAN connect to the share, so the problem is not
password encryption, access rights, etc.
Any help greatly appreciated. it all worked fine with Samba 2.2 on Mandrake
