Winbind offline logon
Hi,
I have a question about Winbinds offline logon capabilities.
We are working on integration of laptops with winbind in to our Linux Workstation Managment System, but have some difficulties to verify the desired functionality. For that we are running the latest samba (currently 3.0.25rc1) . Authentication is setup against Windows AD 2003 with R2 extensions (rfc2703bis) .

Winbind: SID2UID looks in own domain only ?
Hi,
Trusting domain: DOMA
Trusted domain : DOMB
We are running samba-winbind 3.0.24 and have problems when
authenticating user from a trusted domain (DOMB) (idmap backend = ad) in
to DOMA.
After some investigations, we found that when we are trying to login as
a user from DOMB, it seems that sid2uid looks in own domain only, and
fails to retrieve uid from sid.
In DOMA:
wbinfo -m shows the

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit)
machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past
month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to
Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on
the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly*
identical in their common section; the filewall rules

Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for
the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is
called "PDC."
I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it
WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode
for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not

Samba/Winbind 3.4.4 on AIX 5.3 TL 10 does not retrieve ANY User's Secondary Groups
Hi folks !
Has someone any idea on this issue on AIX 5.3 TL 10 with winbind ?
I'm really stuck now ...
I think everything is working pretty well with WINBIND and AD 2k3 ,
but not my most important point : I absolutely need the Secondary groups of
each AD user which get connected to the AIX to use this filter with sudo...
I only get Primary Group (which is by default "Domain Users"

Annoying Winbind Pause While Looking Up Permissions
Our linux SLES10 fileserver is running Samba (3.0.28) and is a domain
member in a Win2003 AD. Everything has been working fine for several
months with the exception of an annoying pause that occurs while
browsing shares. The pause will last 30 seconds and occurs roughly once
every 5-10 minutes. The pause is universal, meaning, that all Windows
clients trying to browse or access files will see this

nsswitch not calling winbindd - suse 9.3 64 bit & Samba 3.0.14a
Hi - I have a problem that is driving me round the bend.
I have installed Suse 9.3 (64-bit) and compiled Samba 3.0.14a from source.
The server is going to be part of an ADS network so I have Kerberos
working fine and I have joined the domain ('net ads testjoin' works fine).
I have compiled and loaded the idmap_rid module and that seems to be
working fine too. wbinfo -u gives me all the

Log shows NT4 for an ADS domain
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and win2k DCs. The
eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with a freeBSD
SAMBA server. I've used the setup from
http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html as the basis for what I've done
so far. Winbind seems to work and I can show users and groups using wbinfo
although I see some things in the logs that I

Nobody can log on from a trusted domain, EXCEPT my own account
Hello.
The one of "strange problems" is here again.
This time it's even stranger.
I've setup a lab based on Mandriva 2010.0. I use winbind for
authentication. I just installed ONE machine, then cloned it on the
others, changing IP, name, and rejoining.
We have two main domains (PERSONALE and STUDENTI). Machines have to be
joined to PERSONALE, but the majority of users are
