Deploying libvirt with live migration
I have two physical servers: Virt1 and Virt2. I'm setting up live
migration with CentOS 5.5 between the two. I've done this by NFS
mounting /etc/libvirt and /var/lib/libvirt/images on both servers. This
is working well for me except for one thing.
I see the same list of VMs on each server (as expected), but each server
(Virt1 and Virt2) are able to start the same VM at the same time.

Best filesystem/nfs options for shared storage?
Is there a guide, or some suggestions for what filesystem to use for VM
storage? I chose the standard ext3 on CentOS but I'm wondering if it
makes more sense to look at ext4 or XFS for performance reasons? Does
anyone tweak the ext3 journaling options for libvirt to speed things up?
What about NFS export/mount options? What do your fstab mount lines look
like? Is there a better

Samba (old) and shared printers on MS Win 2003 SBS
This might be a rube question; if so I apologize in advance. Someone asked
me to help and I don't have much info, but I have a limited window and have
to be forearmed with as much information as possible before I set foot in
the door.
The guy that asked for help runs a Red Hat 6.2 box with the version of
Samba that came with RH 6.2. I asked him what version of Samba it was. He

beta3 winbind and win2003 server
I'm using samba3-beta3 successfully against a Win2000 AD domain
controller, but cannot get winbind woking with a Win2003 AD domain

The samba log gives:

lost trust with win2k -> win2003 upgrade
Hi all.
We are trying to migrate our domain controllers to win2003 and
for some reason, samba loses its trust relationship with the server
once the PDC has been upgraded.
I'm running Samba 2.2.11.
Normally, "wbinfo -t" returns "Secret is good.", but after the server
was upgraded to win2003, the trust was lost and it started saying
"Secret is bad."
The wierd

problems mounting Win2003 Server Share - smbclient is working smbmount is not
Hi,
this is my first post to this list.
I have to mount an Win2003 SmallBusinessServer share to my linux box.
So far so good.
The user "user" exists with the same pass on the linux-box like in the
ActiveDirectory at the Win2003-Server.
I added the user with smbpasswd -a user .
I joined the domain with:
net rpc join -S domain -U user
mount -t smbfs -o username=user,workgroup=domain,rw

Rgd. publick key authentication failure in Win2003 !!
Hello OpenSSH team,
First of all thanks for your OpenSSH tool which helped us a lot in testing our SSH-SFTP client applications. Your tool is developed as per the standards and we suggested the same to our customers also to use with our client applications.
Actually now I am facing some problem when I try to connect to OpenSSH server installed in Win2003 using Public key authentication.

sharing users home dirs for Win2003 and linux
I've setup a linux box with winbind as a member in Win2003 AD and
everything works fine.
I want to share the Win2003 users home dirs with the linux box, i.e.
when a user logs into the linux box, after he's authenticated through
winbind, he should have his home dir from the Windows box, how can I do
that??
Obviously I have to use CIFS to mount the dirs, but how do I maintain
file and dirs

Problem with RPC and Win2003 Server
Hello,
I have big trouble with the domainlogon. My Win2003 server say, that the
RPC-Server isn?t available. This problem comes sometimes and I can't see
anything in the logs.
That?s what I have:
- SAMBA PDC with LDAP-Backend (3.0.24-6 DEBIAN)
- SAMBA BDC with LDAP-Backend (3.0.24-6 DEBIAN)
- both servers are in the same network
- two Win2003-TS-Server that are in an other network

Adding RFC2307 attributes to an existing Win2003 AD domain?
Running Samba 4.0.9, we have added a pair of Samba4 domain controllers
to an existing Win2003 domain.
How do we determine whether RFC2037 attributes already exist in the
domain? And how would we go about adding them to an already existing
domain?

connecting to a win2003 share from a samba in a domain
hello everybody. I am trying to connect to a windows 2003 server in a
domain environment (active directory) from a samba box.
The samba server successfully joined the domain, but when I try even to
list the shares it gives me a sad
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I try the same command from another linux box which isn't part of the
domain, and everything works. Password and

win2003 Permission Denied

one seems to correct the problem I have encountered.
I'm not used to dealing much with samba so please help me understand
what is going on here.
I want to mount a share from a win 2003 server. On our old 2.4.21 EL
kernel I could mount the share but got "stale file handle" messages.
Research told me that was

I trying to add a samba fileserver (v3@ Debian Sarge) to Windows 2003

i'm having trouble even with the basic connection.

getting initial credentials."

Samba4 PDC to Samba4 DC works great, Win2003 PDC to Samba4 DC not so great
I've posted before about this but I'll add more info.
I've set up two Samba DCs in a domain, using both 4.0.7 and 4.1RC1, and
all works great including Forest and Domain DNS repl in both directions.
When I add a Samba 4.0.7 or 4.1RC1 DC to an existing Win2003 PDC with
Forest level of 2003, Forest and Domain DNS repl is only from PDC to DC,
never in the other direction. I've

Win2000 / Win2003 ADS dnsHostName and servicePrincipalName
Sharing my experience with SSO of Linux clients to Active Directory.
Over the last 2 years or so, i had a great deal of trouble getting and
_keeping_ authentication to our Win2000/Win2003 Active Directory system
working from OpenSUSE and CentOS clients. ADS authentication would work
until reboot, a few days, a month max. We'll see how long this lasts.
Another problem was dealing with the
