Winbind ignores idmap configuration (3.0.28a)
Hullo, After having my Samba server joined to a domain, I'm now having difficulties configuring winbind. I want to use the idmap_rid backend, and have recompiled Samba from scratch with the requisite rid.so module. However, no matter how "idmap domains / idmap config" is set up, it seems to get totally ignored. Here is my smb.conf: [global] workgroup = DEPARTMENTDOMAIN server

Defining node types in modules
Hello, This is the way we currently define nodes using modules/classes. Unsure if this is the best method but as dashboard does not do parameterized class variables seems the right way. We apparent zen_ to everything thats making up our servers. I am having problems with the MySQL module as I need to include mysql:: several times to get the features -

smbclient -M --> ERRmsgoff?
Hi, I've been a Samba user/admin for about a decade with relative success, but now I'm stumped. I'm hoping someone might be a solution to this, or at least a solid answer. I'm looking to send out winpopup messages to our XP clients when one of our Samba fileshare servers needs to be rebooted. So I'm trying to sending the messages from a Linux/Samba server, which is not a

PRI Group Calling
Hi, I have a single PRI span setup at present and need to dial a prefix number in order to suppress outgoing caller ID. I am about to have a second PRI Span set up on the same server, but I want to bring both spans into the one group. The second span will be from a different telco. I want to suppress outbound caller ID on this span too, but suspect I will run into the issue of having to dial a

schedule support on latest svn, a question
I''m running the latest backgroundrb mainly for scheduled tasks support. As per the documentation I created the backgroundrb_schedules.yml with the following: simple_label: :class: :document_sorter_worker :worker_method: :do_work :job: :bleh :trigger_args: :start: <%= Time.now + 5.seconds %> :end: <%= Time.now + 10.minutes :repeat_interval: 1.minute Under

tar: File changed as we read it
tar: blah.bleh: file changed as we read it I have a file (two files actually) with different timestamps on the AFR backends -- I presume because the file timestamp was set to the current time, when the last write operation completed and there is some minor clock skew or network lag. tar notices this intermittently, depending on which mirror handles the request. It is a little distracting

Capturing Validation Errors from Nested Model Creation..
Hello Everyone, The subject sort of says it all ;) but, I will explain. Currently I have an object (Booking) which, when its created, will also have new contacts created everytime with it (for arguements sake). So, I can wrap these both in a transaction, however, if any one of the contacts fails the validation of the contact model, it will fling up a validation error. So, what is the

Xapian 1.4.0 released
Now imagine my situation and probably others too, when we are working with big data. I select 1 billion of YouTube videos, and then I index it with Xapian. Now a kid uploads Pokemon video and for some reason, the kid keeps pressing a single key on the keyboard until the term become 500 characters long (e.g., EEEEEEE). Xapian index is running and after it has indexed 500 million documents,

[quick question] smbclient -m smb2 not working
Greetings list, I just upgraded to samba 3.6.0 trying SMB2. Though Windows 2008 R2 can work with SMB2 shares just fine, I'm unable to access SMB2 shares with mount.cifs or smbclient, even with "-m smb2" specified -- I get this "Unrecognised protocol level smb2", whereas smbclient comes with samba-client-3.6.0-63.1.rpm. So is this supported yet (from client side) or I

smbclient -I 172.16.0.43 -M
I'm trying to do the winpopup emulation thing to an IP address instead of NetBIOS name. The following don't seem to work: smbclient -I 172.16.0.43 -M smbclient -M -I 172.16.0.43 The bottom one tries to interpret -I as the host name. What's up?... and don't say my head!!!! ;-) Thanks in advance, sorry if it's been asked before -Vickers

Winpopup Broadcast? (smbclient -M to workgroup)?
Has anyone modified smbclient to send winpopup-style message broadcasts to Win95 workgroups/WinNT domains? If not, any tips on how I could go about doing it? What section of the SMB RFCs (1001, 1002, 1003) would be likely to talk about it? (I'm not sufficiently versed in low-level SMB, so most of the RFCs are still Greek to me. So if someone kindly points me in the right direction I think
