Domain Member Server passdb Migration/Change
Hi, We have a linux/samba only domain serving files to about 16-18 Windows clients (mostly XP, a few W2K). PDC: SuSE OpenXchange 4.4 samba 2.2.8a openldap 2.1.4 Domain Member Server Fedora Core 1 samba 3.0.10 Currently the Domain Member Server uses the default passdb backend (/etc/samba/smbpasswd). Best procedure for migration?
Looking in both Samba3 by example and in Samba HowTo has come up empty. There is a chapter in Howto on migrating from 2.2.8, but it mostly describes the changes in 3 from 2. Nothing on best practices on how to do it. I have two servers running samba 2.2.8a. on FreeBSD 4.5 I have two new (new to me anyway... 2nd hand netfinity boxes) running FreeBSD 6.1 along with a fresh install from

GPMC Permissions
Hello all, I installed Samba4 from GIT (alpha 16, it says) and while most functionality is operational, GPMC continues to report an error in permissions, claiming the permissions for the GPO are inconistant with that of Active Directory. I can't correctly implement GPOs due to this, since only parts of the GPO (if at all) are actually updated on machines (WInXP SP3). Thanks for any input on

domain language?
RSpeckers: I went with RSpec instead of Systir because I downloaded and installed the former first. (I know that''s not exactly a ringing endorsement! ;-) I want to compete with FIT and Fitnesse, like this: http://www.zeroplayer.com/cgi-bin/wiki?TestFlea#tropism (Click on a Green Bar to distend one test case.) I want a domain-specific language in the parchment-colored area on the

dsa.msc for Linux
It would be nice to be able to drag and drop around Samba 4 in Linux without having to use the remote AD admin tool in windows and tie up another box in doing so. These guys have written one: www.resara.org It's available as source and it compiles OK, but it is tied to their own Samba 4 backend. I can't get it going with my own build of Samba 4 Has anyone got it working with a

Query on connecting 3G MSC with Asterisk PBX Server via SIP Interface.
Hello, I am new to Asterisk forum :). I have a requirement of terminating 3G Mobile originated calls (coming through 3G-MSC) to EPBX Phones via Asterisk PBX. Setup: Mobile ----> Mobile Switching Center ( 3G)-----SIP interface--->Asterisk PBX--->SIP Phone. I wanted to know if I require SIP licenses to integrate 3G MSC with my Asterisk server. I know there is a

gpedit.msc as centralized policy for 2k/xp clients in domain
I found this from http://charon.minilab.bdeb.qc.ca/anonym/nt/2000/ads/TTGW2KGP_Vol1through4.pdf I would like to figure out how to do this gpedit.msc+AD+gpc+gpt magic for win2k/xp with linux+samba(2.2/3.0/tng)+openldap and is it possible at all? Thanks. Although GPOs provide significantly more policy features than NT 4.0 System Policy provides, GPOs are stored and processed differently than NT

My 2012 server is IN the samba domain obviously !!! I've installed in this server dsa.msc tools to manage samba4 users. I specify that on Debian wheezy with compiled version of samba4 (Version 4.1.13) I CAN add users in samba4 directory with dsa.msc. But on a jessie with packaged version (Version 4.1.17-Debian) I CAN'T add user with dsa.msc : i've got the error message I've

Rack, Camping 2.0++
=== 1. Camping on Rack === I''ve just finished rewriting Camping to use Rack in the "core". I got rid of (a little less) than 1kB in camping.rb and removed lots of un-necessary files (lib/server/*.rb, fastcgi.rb & mongrel.rb). bin/camping does now only provide WEBrick, Mongrel and console-support and should only be used in development. It uses Rack::ShowExceptions to catch
