dfree command in homes section
Hi everyone,
we are using custom dfree commands to implement quotas. While these work fine on normal shares, the "dfree command" parameter seems to be ignored in the homes section. Is this correct (and intended)?
Best regards

Group member can not delete files - only dir (775) owner can
Hi there,
I have a problem I can not solve myself.
I have samba 3.0.28 installed on a Ubuntu 8.0.4 server.
Samba is a member of AD. Authentication is kerberos, user- / group ids are
handled by nis (Windows 2008 SFU / NIS Server).
My Samba config:
[global]
write list = admin,rado,@Administratoren
deny hosts = 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0
client schannel = No
allow hosts = localhost,

AIX lastlog change
Hi David,
I'm sure loginfailed(..) should be called immediately after
authenticate(..) returned an error. It is directly related
to an invalid password try. (Please see my attached mail from May 2001
to the list).
I'm not so sure when loginsuccess(..) should be called
(setting the loginfailed counter to zero):
Either

smb, vmware trouble?
Dear all
We are using a definition of rules which has perfectly worked with SuSE8.2 and
vmware and a local samba on some clients.
The systems got an update to 9.2.
Now we got a very strange problem which probably could belong to an firewall
definition problem.
After booting of the system the samba connection to vmware works perfect but a
few hours later it isn''t possible to copy a

winbind and samba 3.2.7
Hi all,
I'm using Samba 3.2.7 with openldap 2.4.13 and have problems with
winbind.
If winbindd is started, he needs two minutes, until he is responding
to queries. That makes it hard to debug problems. May be winbindd
is waiting for WINS answers?
The problem,
the man page says this:
ldap group suffix (G)
This parameter specifies the suffix that is used for groups when these

2.2.7 and printer status
Hallo Samba-Team,
thank you for 2.2.7.
The only problem I found is an old one:
status of printers served from samba on Windows 2000
I'll try to explain this so clear as possible:
If I have a Windows user "Administrator", which is in Windows
administrative group "Administratoren" and this user is on Samba-side
*mapped* to "root" --> printer status is *ok*.

Sorry for this question, but I didn`t find the answere in the
documentation or the web.
I use samba 3.0.8 on a SuSE linux 8.2.
Now, I have found a patch for samba <= 3.0.9
( samba-3.0.9-CAN-2004-1154.patch on www.samba.org)
I have the old source-files from my samba 3.0.8.
Also I know that you need the tool "patch" to install the patch. But how? in which directory must I

Hi,
I got samba 2.0.30b running on a Sparc machine with Solaris 10.

No admin privileges after upgrade from 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3
Hi,
since I was bitten badly by this today, I take the additional time to
report this issue here.
After upgrading from samba 3.5.8 to 3.6.0rc3, Administrator on the xp
clients (yes, still xp sp3, no vista, no win7 clients here) lost its
admin privileges.
My Samba PDC setup evolved over about a decade now, but since it still
needs to support a small environment only (20 xp, 30 users), I

pwdump on german NT
Hi,
I had trouble getting the pwdump program to work correctly on a german
version of NT4SP3.
I believe the problem is based on the fact that the german group
'Administrators' is called 'Administratoren', and Administrators is
hard-coded into the utility. Would it be possible to make that an optional
parameter?
Unfortunately, I have no access to a C-Compiler on an NT-station, so

What is needed to test issue 0013573: [Patch] Allow realtime_multi_ldap to behave like other realtime_multi functions
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but what do we need to do to
get this patch merged? How can I help? I'm no dev, but I use LDAP with
Asterisk and I might be of some help.
Thanks guys.

Wrong user used when mounting with mount.cifs
This may be sorta off topic considering this is probably regarding the
linux kernel but I am hoping someone here will have the answer anyway.
I am having the strangest problem when mounting a samba share with "-t
cifs" as opposed to "-t smbfs" where, instead of mounting as the user I am
logged in as, it is mounted as if I were logged on as a completely
different user.

Can't see shares, and also smbmount works but mount -t cifs doesn't
Hi
(this is most likely a newbie question).
A couple of problems. I have a linux guest (puppy) running on vmplayer on a friend's machine, which runs WinXP home. I have folder sharing enabled on the host for a few different folders. I am trying to mount the winxp host shared folders onto the linux guest.
First problem is that I can't seem to see the shares. smbtree only lists the

dfree command in homes section
Hai Felix,
It might be handy to show the line your using for dfree.
And could you tell us the OS and samba version your using.
Last, is this on a member and/or AD-DC ?

Hi Felix,

I guess the nodes end up using different combinations of dev/inode as
primary key for the locking.tdb record. Probably because the device
numbers differ on the nodes and you didn't fix this known issue with
GPFS with the fileid VFS

Unable to create GPO "Allow log on locally"
Well, I've set up a completely new test AD Domain with Samba 4.4.5 and
one Windows 10 Client running RSAT tools in an isolated VM net.
Creating a new empty GPO using RSAT tools
Computer Configuration->
Policies->
Windows Settings->
Security Settings->
Local Policies->
User Rights Assignment->
Allow Logon Locally"
does not work.
