samba on centos with printer drivers
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a CentOS 4.4 print server. I've attached a Usb Hp
Deskjet 5150 printer to the box, and printed a test page. This worked fine,
using cups. I then went to the samba howto, classical printer section, and
followed the section for uploading pointprint drivers to the box. My first
problem came when i told the error dialog no, then didn't see a new driver

A workaround for printer drivers that crash with an exception error after uploading to Samba
I have just run into two printer drivers (Brother 1870N and HP Deskjet
890cxi) that seem to crash windows explorer as soon as they are uploaded
to the samba server.
I have tried using "default devmode=yes" with no success for both drivers.
I have found an horrible workaround that maybe should be useful to others,
so I'll describe it here.
First, uninstall the offending

Win2k explorer.exe dies when dealing with printers
Hi there.
I've been some days dealing with printing problems in Win2k clients, having
a Samba 2.2.5 parched with "parse_sec.patch" as a printer server.
When I try to print anything, explorer.exe dies. Sometimes dies spoolsv.exe,
or sometimes all the system locks (it may be because explorer do not restart).
It happens to all my Win2k clients with Service Pack 2, and only when using

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around
samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks
good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage
printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the
deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights
and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

Hi All,
Wondering if there is a document that tells how to get wine printing through
a cups printer working? Yes I know the wine docs say it's all magic and if
you're using cups your printing will magically work, but for some reason, it
doesn't, my wine session crashes and burns when I try to print from the

As described here:

samba upgrades deletes printer driver pointers
Hello,
I'm running a samba and cups combo on a Centos 5.1 machine. It's acting
as a lan print server. I used pointprint to upload drivers to the samba
share so that windows clients could obtain them. This was working fine until
i'm assuming the upgrade 5.0 to 5.1 on centos, when samba was upgraded. The
driver paths are still there, drivers, shares, but the .tdb files are not.

Win2k Printer Installation Woes Continue....

Sorry, I'm a bit slap-happy...been fighting
Win2k/APW problems ever since I upgraded to 2.2.3a.
Still having problems >2.2.4-pre and now 2.2.4.
I have a workaround, sort of...set disable spoolss=no,
install drivers for the HP printers; then set
disable spoolss=yes. Add "use client driver=no"
on each of the HP printer entries. Add
