Samba pdc with ldap & samba3-3.0.25c-34 on CentOS 5
Hi all,
I had been running a Samba pdc using the standard tdbsam backend on
CentOS 4.5 supporting 20+ WinXPsp2 workstations and a Win2k3 Terminal
Server. This set up was running fine for arroung 18 months maybe more.
The above system was built on ageing hardware that used to be a Win 2k
server that died from OS corruption.
Due to the expanding client needs there was good reason to replace

Old application very slow
Hi,
This weekend I migrated a samba-server to new hardware and software :
I'm running samba 3.2.7-11.3.2 on Opensuse 11.1.
Everything works fine I believe except for an old DOS-application,
written in Clipper. It's too slow to be usable. I tried to debug this
but I'm stuck.
I put the loglevel to 10, but I can't see anything wrong.
I first added to veto oplock files :

Forward Stepwise regression with stepAIC and step
Dear all,
I cannot seem to get the R functions step or stepAIC to perform forward
or stepwise regression as I expect. I have enclosed the example data in
a dataframe at the end of this mail. Note rubbish is and rnorm(17) variable
which I have deliberately added to the data to test the stepwise procedure.
I have used
wateruse.lm<-lm(waterusage~.,data=wateruse) # Fit full model

PPT text extracter
Hi,
I've had a heads up from a user that catppt did not work at all on
semi-recent PowerPoint files (ppt, not pptx). I checked, and indeed it
misses most of the content on many files.
After looking around, I found Python code from the libreoffice project
which makes a nice ppt text extractor after adding a very thin command line
wrapper:

No option for username when logging in.
Hi,
Our Debian 3.01 file server, running Samba 3.0.0 is setup for guest
access to all of the shares. Now I want to add one username, that is a
private share for payroll. I added the username 'pam' with adduser,
and configured smb.conf, see below.
[Payroll]
path = /home/pam
comment = Private
valid users = pam

FAX using T38
Dear all,
I'm trying to enable Asterisk to work with FAX using T38. I've tried
Asterisk 1.2.4 with the available patch found at URL
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=5090 and also with the new 1.4 Beta3
that is announced to support it too.
With both Asterisk versions, I've sent with success FAXes between two
FAX machines each one attached to an ATA interface, both registered in

Winbind and AD issues
Hello,
I've been working on integrating a Fedora Core 2 box into Active
Directory over the weekend.. it's a file server running Samba.
I seem to have partial success but it isn't really working how I want it
to and maybe some clever person here can see the problem.
I've joined it to the AD and I see the computer account in there..
Kerberos seems to work:

Cannot access HOME folder after upgrading to 4.8 from 4.6
Hello-
I upgraded Samba from 4.6 to 4.8 on a FreeBSD 11.2 server. After the upgrade, users cannot access the HOME folder share but they can access other shares just fine.
I am using the RID backend on this member server that connects to Windows-based domain controllers. I apologize for the lengthy smb4.conf but here it is:

Using +<group> in "valid users" is not working
Hello to all,
I have recently upgraded to SAMBA 3.4.2 on Solaris 10, and reconfigured it to use domain authentication (security = domain). We slapped guest authentication on most shares, with an explicit "valid users = ...." on a small number of sensitive shares. Due to the number of users we were looking at, we set up two UNIX groups "payroll" and "payoff" and

ace () - again
Dear all,
I am still trying to find out what goes wrong when I use ace (I get an
'NAs in foreign fuction call (arg3)' but when I go through it with debug
there seem no data to be missing).
I had some errors (see at end of message) while installing 'acepack'. Do
you think it is possible that these lead to the fact, that simple problems
run ok but larger problems result in an

Sortable as a class?
Hi there!
My first post to this list, so first of all many thanks for the amazing
Scriptaculous library. I''m currently using it for some nice Ajax effects
in Apache Cocoon (http://cocoon.apache.org/).
I''m currently struggling with Sortable, which I would like to adapt as
the conventions used in Cocoon are different from those currently used.
Basically, I would like to send

Samba4 - mapping Network Drives based on Group membership
Hi All
I have a problem running a logon script to map network drives based on
Group Membership. The script is a VBScript that resides in the netlogon
share. It Works just fine when the logged in user is a Domain Admin but
fails to get the Group information when logged in as a regular user. For
example when I login as administrator who is a member of every Group (For

Samba 3.020 and Win2K with Kerberos 5
Hi,
I've posted this one also to comp.protocols.smb, but the list seems to be
more hacky :-)
I have M$ Win2K PDC with Kerberos authentication system.
PDC

Kerberos5
It was somewhere told (Samba 3.0 prealpha guide to Kerberos
authentication)that this should work.
I'm using RedHat 7.2 with latest patches (obtained via net from redhat
site).

[LLVMdev] How can I modify Clang/LLVM build system?
Hello,
I want to state my question again because I think the question I wrote
was vague or not clear.
I'd like to know
- on which file I need to work, and
- on which part of the file I need to modify
- to add a path for 3rd party(ACE) header files,
- to add a path for my custom header files,
- to add a path for 3rd party(ACE) Library,
- to define a Macro, and
- to specify a 3rd party(ACE)

idea for (further) debugging ace ()?
Dear all,
I am trying to use ace on a 446 x 14 Matrix, with two categorical
variables in the first two columns. If I try to run it I get:
> aceiH <- ace (data.mat, resp, cat= 1:length(x.cat))
Error: NAs in foreign function call (arg 3)
There is only one .Fortran call in ace () with the third argument being
x = t(x). Thus I tried to debug ace, i.e. I went through ace until just

[LLVMdev] LangRef/implementation inconsistency: What is the intended constraint on function return types?
PR15447 <http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=15447> brings up that
there is an inconsistency both within LangRef and between LangRef and
the implementation regarding what is an allowed return type.
LangRef says:
"The return type of a function type is a first class type or a void type."
<http://llvm.org/docs/LangRef.html#id14>
and also, contrarily,
