Samba 3.3.4 Umlaut in Share comment
Hi, I just upgraded from 3.0.32 to 3.3.4 on Aix 6.1, and noticed that a 'net view' command from a windows xp workstation fails with a system error 1745. The share works perfectly fine, just the net view command doesn't. This occurs when there is an umlaut in the comment line of the share. Is this WAD? here are the debug lines...from Samba 3.3.3, but it's the same error. Thanks,

Fw: Antwort: RE: Re: Samba + Vista Issue
So it seems we've found the problem - just in case someone else encounters it. We had previously joined the Server with net ads join, and the attributes were still present in active directory, and the vista client tryed to force a kerberos blob on the samba server - which was promptly ignored/rejected. The solution was deleting the AD entry for the server and re-joining. Mit

64 Bit Build 3.6.11 on AIX 6 with acls enabled dumps core,
Hi, this is the first time I've tryed to build a 64 Bit Version with acl's enabled - so I expect I could duplicate this with older versions too... Compiling Samba4 RC3 on AIX 6.1 with IBM vac
Sorry - the first post got sent as a response to an unrelated thread :-( ........................... Hi, I'm trying to get a samba4 build on AIX 6.1, and run into a couple of problems: 1. The entire Kerberos Heindal #includes need to be explicity included(with path) 2. In order to get the ldap definitions (ldap.h etc) I've installed openldap 2.4.28. 3. Learning to hate '//'

Terminal Server Profile readonly attribute lost
Hi, I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've searched and can't find a thing. We have Windows 2003 Terminal Servers, and are running Samba 3.4.5 on AIX 6.1. Our Terminal Server Profiles are kept on a samba share. When a user creates a file locally in C:\Documents and Settings(or whatever it's called in english :-) ), sets the file to readonly, and then logs out, the

WG: Winbind / Samba auth problem after username change
I just did a cp -p *.ldb to a backup directory and restarted the services. Of course I didn't delete it since I don't know whether this action would be fatal. > > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > > Von: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Im Auftrag von > > Rowland Penny via samba > > Gesendet: Mittwoch, 7. Samba Auth: NETLOGON vs. lsarpc
All, So, I have a OS X Server 10.3.9 box running Samba 3.0.10. File sharing is fast and cannot as for much more in the department. Only slow thing: authentication. We are using the OS X box as the PDC, and running authentication of all workstations against the PDC. This works good, but takes 15-30 seconds to take place, which is not great. I did a debug level 3 of the samba file

PIPE\lsarpc initialisation failed !
Hi all, I encounter a problem when I try to connect a Samba3 server as a BDC on a ASU HP/9000 PDC server. We manage to start the communication between both computers, but it doesn't achieve it. It failed when trying to bind to PIPE\lsarpc. Can anyone give some help please ? Let's note that I can get the SID from net getlocalsid command, and that I can list all share with administrator

MS-RPC, LSARPC and Named Pipes end points
Hi everyone, I get more and more questions from security minded clients about MS-RPC and the dynamic RPC port range. The default range is quite wide, and while it can be configured and reduced through the "rpc server dynamic port range" parameter since 4.7.0, it still get network/firewall/security people nervous. Digging further into that subject, after some more reading and

WG: AW: WG: proxyarp <--> OpenSwan VPN/Internet
I´ve figured out the following. I am able to sftp from shorewall 2.4.2 left vpn gateway x.x.x.14 (DMZ) to shorewall 2.4.1 fw x.x.x.11 with /etc/shorewall/proxyarp x.x.x.14 eth2 eth0 No very well. That´s not through a tunnel (of course a ssh tunnel, but no vpn) but with public ip x.x.x.14 to x.x.x.11 If I try to sftp through the fw to the public internet I have the same

Altered behavior in 3.0.25 and 3.0.24-gc-1
By mistake or by design membership in a Windows Primary Group seems to be mandatory! We are using printservers configured as member servers of Samba domains. with the following configuration security = DOMAIN password server = PDC encrypt passwords = yes map to guest = Bad Password The Samba PDCs use plain smbpasswd files. Since upgrading to 3.0.25 and

3.0.25 *breaks* stand alone server, 3.0.24 works fine
Gerry, It looks like 3.0.25 breaks "stand alone/no winbind/no domain" servers. This is remeniscent of the 3.0.23b SID/GID problem. The only thing that jumps out at me is that you can't access your home share and other shares just quit working. Looking at the log files, I see this: [2007/05/14 15:24:55, 10] smbd/open.c:share_conflict(389) share_conflict:

prexec change between 3.0.24 to 3.0.25
Hello, I've been testing out 3.0.25 before putting it into production and came across an issue. As a simple example.. in a share definition root preexec = echo "hey there, hi there, hello" > /tmp/hiya.txt works fine under 3.0.24 not so under 3.0.25, /tmp/hiya.txt isn't created. Cranking up the debugging and using some other similiar tests it seems to me that Samba is in
