server signing broken for non-kerberos auth
I'm working with the Solaris bundled version of samba 3.5.5 and having a
problem with server signing. samba is configured into an active directory
domain with security = ads.
With signing enabled, connections from clients in the domain work fine.
However, connections from clients not in the domain fail:

SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
I am running Samba 3.0.9/KRB5 1.4 on Centos 3.4 on x86 with security = ADS in a Win2k3 domain. I have successfully used kinit to authenticate, joined the domain, and wbinfo -g/-u/-t return the expected results. However, when I try and access the samba shares from a Win2k3 box, it fails telling me I don't have permissions to access the share. Needless to say I am thoroughly perplexed. I have

Active Directory authentication no longer works
Hello all,
I have 3 Linux boxes all authenticating against 2 Windows 2003 domain
controllers. Each Linux box is running a different Linux and samba version:
Box1: CentOS 3.4 3.0.25-7
Box2: CentOS 4.4 3.0.10-1
Box3: CentOS 5 3.0.23c-2
Their smb.conf and krb5.conf files are all identical (below). A few days
ago authentication stopped working and my /var/log/messages fills up

NT_STATUS_TRUSTED_RELATIONSHIP_FAILURE with Server 2008R2
I am having problems implementing Samba using security=domain against a
Windows 2008R2 server.
I have been able to successfully join the domain via a net rpc join.
Anytime I try to access a share through smbclient I get a
NT_STATUS_TRUSTED_RELATIONSHIP_FAILURE but nothing in the logs (on
either side) seems to be giving me any leads on where to look. The
system is locked down to allow NTLv2

SMB signing broken? 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8
Hi all.
I originally suspected this problem was with netbios (which I have
disabled by default) and Jerry has helped me out a bit with but I've
been doing some more digging and I think the problem lies back further
than I expected.
I was trying to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 so I've recompiled all
versions back from 3.0.11 and the problem first occured in 3.0.8. The
issue is with

Samba 3.0 & Windows 2003 server ADS
Hi there
I'm having trouble getting winbindd working properly (I think).
My understanding is that winbindd uses a kerberos 5 session (with 2003
server) to authenticate the machine to ADS, before any users have logged in.
Then it uses that session ticket to authenticate all users of the smb
server.
Is that correct ?
I can run kinit ok, and klist shows me a krb5 ticket (using a Domain

I'm trying to join Samba 3.2.0rc2 with Windows 2008 domain.
Net ads join returns:

Tried to use ktpass and keytab, but it also failed. Tried googling failed to set machine spn, but got no results.
What else could I try ?

Sorry for the long post but I've been working on this for over a day now
and I haven't made any progress. I hope someone can help me with this.
I have created a new ad domain on a win2k server. I am not user
kerberos. I have the redhat enterprise linux 3 version of samba
installed on my machine.
I use:

signing_good: BAD SIG: seq 1 & SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
When winbind is started I get the following log messages:
signing_good: BAD SIG: seq 1
SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
After extensive googling the only reference I find is that my kerberos might
be too old. (using krb 1.2.4). Can someone confirm is this a bug in kerberos
or a bug in samba. If the later is there a workaround or do I have to
upgrade to new kerberos?
