RAID on HP ML110 G5
I would like to run FreeBSD 7 on a HP ML110 G5. I understand from past posts to this list that the ML110 series is FreeBSD friendly, but what about RAID 1 using the on-board SATA controller? Will this work and how do you set this up? Regards Tom Munro Glass

99% cpu usage help
Thanks. In my rc.icecast script, I put a >/tmp/icecast.out and a 2>/tmp/icecast.err to try and follow your advice. When I turned it on, I got alot of "You can run, but you can't hide" lines over and over in the icecast.out file. I tracked it down in the code and found src/admin.c was printing the message. The function handle_admin function has a while loop that prints the

smbd eating 99% CPU what to do?
Do you know what can cause the smbd process to steal out the cpu usage (99%) and keep running like that for days? I have a Samba PDC 3.0.1pre3 running on top of RH9 2.4.20 kernel. Below is the current top report. Strangely, the PDC still responds in reasonable good response times to heavy network duty.traced the log.%machine name% and didn't find anything . I haven't tried to restart smb

99% cpu usage help
I think the problem is that your icecast is wrong configured. If it has an configuratrion error that dows not shut it down at startup, it takes 99,9% cpu usage (thats my problem with, for example, a wrong path to configuration file at startup, or something like this). I made a post a few weeks ago regarding this but was unable to find a solution. This is the situation: + I'm attempting to upgrade from samba 3.0.23a (Fedora core package 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1) to the latest version compiled from Samba source. + When using the latest version (or 3.0.25b), Win clients can authenticate & access shares fine, but attempting to open any kind of MS Office doc (not

(mask now []) In logs it hangs with this message: debug: Calling fileserver.describe But lots of these fileserver.describe calls prior to hang are successful. If I run it with puppetd

I'm using Ubuntu server 8.10 amd64 with the 3.2.3 samba they provide. I'm using winbind for authentication. Samba is the ONLY service this box is providing for a small office (maybe 15-18 users max). I am using Backup Exec 12.5 ralus but always at night, no active users. My hardware is very overkill for my application (file server for small office, 8gb ram, Intel quad core cpu, raid 10

A smbd process pegging CPU at near 100% with v3.0.10-1 FC2 RPM
CPU 99.3%: 2170 root 25 0 11656 3228 10m R 99.3 0.5 0:07.42 smbd We're having the same problems as many others with print queues, client lock-ups, etc. I think maybe this CPU problem is related as we have two servers in two locations with the same versions, and both had the problem immediately after upgrading to 3.0.10. We use the YUM facility to upgrade Samba. To react to these
