Samba 3.0.24 + OpenLDAP
I'm using the above version of Samba with OpenLDAP. I also use the smbldap-useradd script to add users, like below. I'm finding that I also have to have an account in /etc/passwd for the user to get in otherwise I get the message below. I thought that the ldapsam:ldap://localhost/ would not require the /etc/passwd entry. What did I miss? # Adding a User (doesn't work)

Hey Lucio, You will need a FXS port. I would recommend setting up something like Cisco SPA3102. The SPA3102 can be found cheap on Ebay, and will be easy to setup in Asterisk. http://www.infoworld.com/article/2633694/data-modeling/your-pstn-and-you--linksys-spa-3102-and-asterisk.html Once the FXS is set up, it's just a matter of adding a ring group/pickup group:

samba+ldap: Simu.- login of 2 different users => user rejected
Has anybody had this problem before? If not, where should i start digging? I'm running Samba 3.0.24 on Debian stable with slapd-2.2.23 backend. smb.conf is attached below. When two different users log in at the same moment, the login process seems to freeze for a minute and the client (win2k) complains about missing profile or missing access to profile. A single user login works perfectly.

DNS frustration
I'm getting fed up with the whole DNS scenario with Samba4. I'm literally about to go insane. I've spent about 60 hours in the last two weeks and I can't seem to figure out a solution that meets my requirements. So what are my requirements? * A Samba4 AD domain. * A DHCP server for approx 100 windows clients/devices * A DNS server whose forward and reverse zones get updated when

Configuring Login to access Samba
Hi, I'd like to use CentOS in my machines but I'd like to login using the same user/pass. Is it possible to configure KDM/GDM/whatever to check the user/password in my local samba. I would not want to create and mantain users in sync with a central passwd/shadow. Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Printer properties dialog looks and behaves different if driver is installed on samba or on XP
Hi I am using a HP LJ 4350 on samba 3.0.28 with cups as backend. We tried the HP PCL6 driver (not CUPS PS drivers), because it offers the possibility to print for example the first page on a different sheet from a different tray. This works fine, if a installe the driver on windows XP. If I install the driver on a samba server, a testpage shows no difference concerning driver files. But if i

Cannot create writeable share - tried many different things
Hi, I appreciate any help that can be given. For the life of me, I cannot create a writeable share on a specific box - a fairly new install of Fedora Core 5. I have posted on several forums over the past 2 weeks, but haven't gotten anywhere with the advice given, so I'm turning to this list as my last hope. This box runs as an NIS client, but I have had no problems with NIS. The problem

question about puppetd listen setting
On the Configuration refrence page the listen setting is descriped thusly: listen Whether puppetd should listen for connections. If this is true, then by default only the runner server is started, which allows remote authorized and authenticated nodes to connect and trigger puppetd runs. The question is when listen is set to true, does puppetd only listen for remote calls or will it listen for

Basic Many-to-One association
Sari, I got the list display working without doing an explicit find. It took a bit of a conceptual convulution to get it to work. I was thinking of it has Many Cases have One status. There is no support for Many-to-One so I was a bit stumped. Then I realized you just have to turn around your thinking to say One Status has Many Cases. Thus it is a One-to-Many relationship. That is descriped

Access denied msg when using M$ MMC under W2k or XP on ACL compiled Samba and 2.4.20 Kernel with Acl on ext2 and ext3
Hello, I am currently struggling with the final step (so it seems) in using a RH9 box with standardized kernel build 2.4.20, with enabled acl, and Samba 3 built with ACL enabled as well. I am able to join the domian with net ADS join -U USERNAME, and use wbinfo and getent, showing the users and groups from the domain. However, I am incappable of setting the permissions so DOMAIN+USER can use the

small homebrew pbx
Hello all, I'm new here and I'm interested in building a small PBX with asterisk at home. I have one single PSTN line and ethernet cabling in place. I already have fairly decent PC that I can use (AMD FX 8350 16GB of RAM and RAID 10 SATA disks). I make and receive 10 calls a day on average. I want 4 IP phones connected to the ethernet network. When there is a incoming call, all
