seq: specify *minimum* end value, more elegant solution
Hello, Using seq, I would like to specify a minumum end value, rather than a maximum end value. For example, rather than > seq(from=0, to=10, by=4) [1] 0 4 8 I would like to obtain [1] 0 4 8 12 I can do that with > by.value = 4 > seq(from=0,by=by.value,to=ceiling(10 / by.value)*by.value) [1] 0 4 8 12 That seems like a somewhat clunky solution, though, and requires an additional

Removing password complexity requirements under Samba4
We had problems removing password complexity, and I noticed a lot of confusion on the list about exactly this topic. So I thought I would post our success. We're talking about a Samba4 PDC/AD here. Once we got Samba installed and provisioned, we used samba-tool from the command-line on the Samba box to change the domain password settings: sudo samba-tool domain passwordsettings set

Auth errors with winbind on member server with Native AD
So many people have posted this problem! The steps to debug need to be in a FAQ. The short question is: Can there be a disconnect between the short and long REALM names, leading to winbind-to-AD authentication errors? and How do I fix it? I can access windows shares or join a AD Domain with: mount -t smbfs -o username=johns, workgroup=ms //library/Source_Safe tmp/ --or-- net ads

Struggling with Samba + AD member config (winbind auth failing) :(
Hello Samba List, I am struggling with connecting samba to our AD servers. Thought it will be easy as before but I was wrong. DCs: Windows Server 2012 (2x) with AD Domain Forest/Level 2003 NATIVE. + SBS 2003 (will be removed, migrating from SBS AD to new 2012 servers) -standard AD schema with exchange attributes DID NOT INSTALL UNIX attributes. This is required for SSSD. Thought i would go

Tps
Hi, I have a 4 column file (long/lat/elev/variable) and I tried to fit the values of my variable to the XYZ space using Tps and I keep getting the following message: Warning messages: 1: GCV search gives a minumum at the endpoints of the grid search in: Krig.find.gcvmin(info, lambda.grid, gcv.grid$GCV, Krig.fgcv, 2: GCV search gives a minumum at the endpoints of the grid search in:

Windows member servers have lost their minds...
Hello all... I'm having a serious problem after a Samba upgrade from 3.0.20 to 3.0.23c. A bit of background: I have a network with a Samba PDC and several member servers running Windows 2000 server. I upgraded my PDC from Mandrivalinux to RHEL5, which (obviously) included a Samba upgrade. I renamed the old server to a different hostname and IP address, and disabled Samba on it, then I copied

Samba AD member and connections from non-AD systems
Hi - I've scoured the mailing list archives as well as other help sources online and haven't figured out what my problem is or what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Scenario: I have a samba 3.5.5 server running on CentOS 5.5. This system is a member of an Active Directory domain. FYI, I am not the domain administrator, but I am an OU admin and can create

Samba Domain Member Server -- tdbsam/winbind/idmap_rid -- file ownership ?
I have just struggled to implement a Samba Domain Server, and have some remaining issues. I have a Samba PDC using tdbsam, managing a domain called RHEA. I have (finally) configured a new Samba Domain Server (AUREUS) using winbind and idmap_rid. When I am logged in to RHEA as user GMCH I can access a TMP share on AUREUS (at last). Running 'getent passwd' I get (inter alia):

Minumum memory requirements to run R.
Quite a while back we set the goal of running R in 16Mb RAM, as people (I think Kjetil) had teaching labs that small. Since then R has grown, and we has recently started to optimize R for speed rather than size. I recently tested R-devel on my ancient Win98 notebook with 64Mb RAM -- it ran but startup was rather slow on what I think is a 233MHz processor and very slow disc. R still runs in

tdbsam (local) to ldap (tdbldap) backend migration causes pam restrictions not to work anymore?
Hi, I am using samba 3.0.10 on Debian and have had my users in tdbsam backend untill now. They have had the ability to change their unix password along with samba password and besides that I was able to apply some PAM restrictions to the users password strength via pam_cracklib.so library. I have now moved the users into ldap and auth works ok, but I cannot change users password and still have

ldap/pam authentication
Hello, I was wondering if there is an easy way to authenticate users through ldap, or pam (which uses ldap). In our current setup samba uses tdbsam. I would like users to be authenticated to our existing ldap server (slapd on debian etch). So that if the user has been authenticated successfully (s)he can access the directories as configured in smb.conf (/home/username, /public etc.) with the

w2k ADS + Samba ADS Member, quirky browse mode
Hello, I'm seeing an odd quirk running samba 3.0.21c & winbind with kerberos 1.3.4 joining a windows 2000 ADS domain on RHEL3. The Samba server's hostname is "staging". I run: /usr/kerberos/bin/kinit Administrator@DOMAIN.COM net ads join Then I start up winbind and smb. winbind works prefectly. I can log in as a domain user from via sshd/PAM, and the usual:

AD Domain Member with SFU
Hello all, we have joind Samba 3.0.9 to an AD-Domain which is running AD. All is working fine, acces to shares is granted, files are created, deleted. When we start off with assigning ACL's though, they just get ignored, and the User vanishes from the access list in the share manager. Server is Windows 2003, Client is XP Pro. Here is the error we get: Jun 30 13:56:05 w01abnfs07 smbd[17006]:

Samba 4 AD member server authentication issues, domain vs. ads security
I should add that the samba.log file was logging NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS errors when authentication attempts were failing. Workstations in the domains were still able to authenticate, however, and I verified that the DNS records were still correct. The SRV records were all in place and the domain controllers' host names were resolving. On Wed, Jun 22, 2016 at 9:44 AM, Eric Shell

samba 4 member server in WIn 2008 domain, wbinfo fails
I have started tinkering with samba 4. I have a Windows 2008 active directory domain controller. It is also the main DNS server but is not the wins server. The DNS server does NOT allow DNS registration by client machines. I have a fedora core 19 linux machine with samba 4.1.13 (bundled with Fedora.) smb.conf includes security = ads realm = MYDOMAIN.COM

newbie questions re flac on win32 eac and id3v2
Firstly, a big thank-you to Josh for FLAC. Someone mentioned it in a post on Slashdot, so I came over to sourceforge for a look-see. This is just the sort of thing I've been looking for. Can anyone relate any general tips for using flac on Windows for the purpose of archiving cd's? If I can nail down a solid, easy-to-use process, I'm happy to write it up and contribute it to the

Can't setup shares on domain member server samba4
I have a new CentOS 7 installation which I joined to my domain using 'realm join mydomain.com'. That worked great. I can get a ticket with 'kinit administrator at mydomain.com'. But my samba shares don't work. In fact, when I browse (from windows 7 domain member) to the host (lserver), it just times out. Similarly, when I try from another Linux server: smbclient
