Buffer in Windows holding samba info
My client is using Samba to read information on their web server from SCO Open Server 5. They are having this problem: Windows holds old information, rather than getting new information from Samba once a file is updated. Is there any way to force samba to go and look for new data everytime Windows makes a request for data? Thanks! -- K-Tag: I've upped my standards. Now up yours! ------

LDB object number limitations
Hi list, here is a Samba4 AD with LDB. Is there any limit for number of possible objects? I mean users, computers, and other kind of nodes. On a Samba Wiki page, the doc notes: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/LDB#How_LDB_uses_TDB "How LDB uses TDB LDB basically sits on top of TDB and manipulates the data into an LDAP-like structure." And I've found a doc here:

HTB performance improvement
HTB performance improvement Hi all ! i''m looking at the performance of the HTB algorithm/implementation because i would like more packets/sec !! this is the scenario of the performance test: i''m using an embedded system with: SPEED CPU: 399,999 MHz RAM: 128 MByte FLASH: 16 MByte EEPROM: 8Kbyte PROCESSOR MPC8272 a lan to lan 10/100 and in particular we are sending

HTB - Rate errors
Hi, I''m trying to get HTB working correctly on Centos4 (RHEL-based) with kernel 2.6.9-34.EL. I have two gigabit network interfaces bridged together and I have created the following: tc qdisc add dev eth2 root handle 1: htb default 1 r2q 8000 tc class add dev eth2 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100Mbit burst 24k cburst 24k (I have been trying different parameters). The network is

xennet windows pv performance
I''ve just pushed some changes to hg that seem to speed things up a bit for me. On one machine with 2 x dual core 2.4Ghz AMD cpu''s, testing with iperf from DomU to Dom0 I get: Windows (vcpus = 2) - ~500MBits/sec - ~66% cpu utilization (eg 100% on one, and 33% on the second cpu) Linux (vcpus = 1) - ~2200MBits/sec On another machine with 1 x dual core 1.8Ghz AMD cpu, testing as

POP3 Performance
Hi, We actually have a mail hosting solutions with aprox. 100 thousand of email account, where about 90% of a customers use POP3 like email configuration. About a few mounths (we perfomed a lot of migration throught mbox email software to Maildir with dovecot) but i can see that the performance is very poor and receive complaint about delays of autentications of accounts. The solution

Crash report: projection pursuit & predict
Folks, The projection pursuit regression function in the base R seems to crash when the optimization level is set to zero, i.e. the initial ridge terms are accepted without refitting. I encountered this problem in an out-of-sample prediction exercise using predict. But further investigation suggests the issue is with the ppr fit and predict just sppeds up the crash. The other optlevels seem to be

PDC and BDC load-balancing
Hi there, I would like to know how Samba / Windows determines which domain controller should handle a logon request, and whether there is a way I can affect the process. Here's the situation: I have a school installation running a Samba domain, with a PDC (1.1GHz Celeron, 256 MB RAM) and one BDC (much smaller, 366 with 64 MB RAM), both with RedHat 7.1 and Samba 2.2.5. There are about 80

Intermittent TCP connect issues when using tinc 1.0.23 and IPv6
Hi, I am using tinc 1.0.23 in router mode and am having trouble with intermittent TCP connect timeouts that do not occur when routing the TCP over the internet directly. I am using a pure IPv6 setup (i.e direct IPv6 connections, and tunneled IPv6 subnets). My configs are as follows: Site 1: ----------------------- tinc.conf: Name = rsukmhb AddressFamily = ipv6 BindToAddress =

tinc Digest, Vol 109, Issue 7
Thanks for replying so quickly Guus. I will try increasing the re-keying time to 86400, and am now running the servers in debug 5 mode logging to a file, so will get all output. Its interesting what you say about UDP being given lower priority, the two end points of this VPN are actually within the same data center, but are being routed within the DC's core routers (because its going
