WTB / WTS Voip hardware
I've got a Wildcard T100P along with a Zhone Zplex 10 24S/O which has been working fine for me now for a while. These have been pulled out of a working Asterisk installation (as they were no longer required) to use at home only to find that the fan noise is too loud. As such I'm looking to sell off this hardware and replace it with some combination of fanless hardware that will allow me to

quota issues
Hi I seem to be getting an error when quotas are enabled. Also I noticed that the quota_ rule settings don't actually get used, the only settings that are used are on the sql.conf file. Maybe I'm not understanding what the quota_rule does but should I be specifying the storage/messages values on there even though they are being read/used are on the sql.conf file only. dict {

With a current version of Dovecot a search is pretty fast _without_ using external indexes. I have a view defined (virtual plugin) with around 22.000 messages in it, and searching the full view only takes 2.5

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are so obscure. There seems to be a fair amount

Hi, I've got a SuSE 9.0 running Samba 3.0.1 and Netatalk 1.6.3 Samba is a member server of a win2k domain, I'm using winbind to authnticate my users. Well, with the Windows users, everything is ok. But not with the Mac users I'd like to setup Netatalk to authenticate my Macs against the win2k domain as with Windows. Is this possible? I've sarched the web all around and

Sambas as fileserver for a IIS WebServer
Hi, Does anyone used a linux samba server as a fileserver for a Win2k, where the w2k is a loaded webserver using IIS? Or maybe a IIS Web Farm? I need a central storagepoint to my frontend webservers to centralize all the administration, backups, etc. Will the mount consume too much CPU in the win2k machines? And in the samba server? Will FP2000 work allright? There's any way to tell the

windows RPC patch crashes my sambas
Hi gang, I've been using Samba for years now. Its great, but lately I've become aware of the security issues it presents. Currently I have a setup that uses the securtiy = domain style authentication. Basically a W2K server is used for as the PDC. But after applying the recent RPC denial of service patch to my 2K server, my sambas can no longer use my 2K server to authenticate.

Any LARGE production Sambas?
Hi list, A customer was asking - is anyone doing LARGE Samba servers in production - in the range of 10-20TB or more? If so, what type of issues come up as the data sizes grow large? What architectures work well? Is there a recommended maximum TB/server? Thanks. -Mike MacIsaac, IBM mikemac at us.ibm.com (845) 433-7061

WORKGROUP authentication with netapp and multiple sambas (NIS?)
Hello samba folks, I am thinking about how to upgrade my current file servers. I have a Network Appliance NAT (CIFS and NFS) that did not recognize the 2.X samba PDC (due to 2.x only partially supporting unicode). Unwilling to put in a native windows PDC, I threw in the towel, and deployed Windows native networking (WORKGROUP). (2 logins required, but simple). This small company of 15 uses

Two Sambas, but the new version is not activ
Hello! I have an old Samba Version(3.0.7..) in /etc/samba/ and an new one (3.0.14a) compiled in /usr/local/samba/.... If I start only the Dämon from the new one, the testparm -V shows always the old versionnumber(3.0.7..). I think, only the old one is activ. Should I delete the old directory with th smb file, or how can I solve this problem, because I need the new one Samba, because I

Virtual servers - multiple sambas
New to this list. Running samba 2.2.4 set up as a PDC. We've recently added another department to our office network. Ideally, I don't want either department to see each others shares - just to be aware of the shares in their own workgroups. The documentation says that you can set up virtual servers using the "netbios aliases" and the "%L" options in the

Patenting a mathematical formula is NOT creating a machine nor is it unique. For example. 2+2=4... apples + apples^2= given outcome. I want to patent this. It's stupid to patent something like that. The same is true for formula algorithms. Algorithms occur in nature. Thus should not be patented. Now, Volley G Mathison inventor of the Electropsychometer had a machine that he could patent. A

domain users in local groups with Winbind/Samba/Redhat
Hi, I am running a Samba 2.2.7a on Redhat 7.3 in a NT domain. For authentication I am using the domainusers. This is done by Winbind 2.2.7a which verifies the existens of the users on the PDC. So I dont't have to create local users (/etc/passwd) for users who want to connect to the shares in the smb.conf. I authorise them by adding valid users = domain+domainuser to the smb.conf. This works
