Dear R experts, 1. How can I turn off the display of rulers in image() command? 2. Rather than typing my commands at the command line, how can I input a file contents aside from doing a copy and paste operation? Thanks in advance, Ernesto Adorio Math Department University of the Philippines Diliman

interactive prompts
Am using R on a Linux box and am currently writing an interactive R script. 1. How do I ask a user to press any key to continue ? I used a system call to read but this only works if the Enter key is pressed: print("Press any key to continue") system("read") 2. How do I get a string input from the user? Do I need a WINS server if I want to browse?
The docs aren't clear, so don't think that I'm being lazy and want a quick answer. (I'm reading Ch 10 of the how-to) On the one hand it says, "where there is no WINS server, all name registrations + name lookups are done by UPD broadcast." So then I don't need a WINS server. But then it says, "Clients wishing to browse the network make use of this [DMB] list

Centos 7: UPD packet checksum verification?
First of all - disclaimer - I'm no network specialist, I just read and am interested in it. I may get things wrong!! > > > Both physical interfaces show the same. Centos 7: UPD packet checksum verification?
Hi, what does Centos 7 do with UPD packets having invalid checksums? Are such packets inevitably dropped? Does a network card drop them when it does checksum verification in hardware even before the packets go anywhere? In general, if someone were to send me UPD packets with invalid checksums over the internet, how far would such packets get? In particular, how likely it is that SRTP

Pinging win from FreeBSD
Hello Samba folks, I thought you might be able to help me. I have 2 machines, 1 is FreeBSD, 1 is win95. They can't ping each other, but the bsd box comes up in Network Nieghborhood when Samba is active. What's going on? Is it not possible to ping a windows machine from a unix box? They are on the same hub via UTP. IPs are 192.168.1.x and netmasks are same (255.255.255.0).

I try to play with callbacks or with method dedicated to my attributes for eg. def fetched upd = nil v =read_attribute(:fetched) if (v) upd = DateTime.at(v) else upd = DateTime.now end end def
