Can't get kerberos ticket with samba 3.0.23d and Windows Server 2k3 SP1
Hi, i've installed Samba 3.0.23d on Solaris 10 (SPARC) with MIT Kerberos 1.5.1, openLDAP 2.3.30 and openSSL 0.9.8d. I have 2 Windows Server 2003 SP1 Domain Controller and about 20 Windows XP SP2 clients. My problem is that i can't get a kerberos ticket to join the domain. If i try to get a ticket with 'kinit Administrator@PONTOS.LOCAL' i get always the error kinit(v5): KDC

Samba can't find unix accounts for user mapping
Hi, we're using samba 3.0.24 on Solaris 10. Not long ago we've migrated from NIS to LDAP with the Solaris integrated LDAP Server/Client. Now the user mapping doesn't work any more. If I map the WINDOWS\Administrator account to the unix account admin (this is a local account on the samba server) all works fine. [2007/02/06 16:27:25, 3, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)]

Samba 3.0.31 stills fails to read and write to socket.
Hi, I recently upgraded my servers from 3.0.28 to 3.0.31 trying to solve the winbind issue previously reported (Bug# 5551) but the issue is still happening in my servers. I have an ftp server (vsftpd), configured to use pam_winbind with krb5_auth and I see some random disconnects and my users cant login. My samba servers are member of a Windows 2003 domain. The relevant lines on my

Mapping of Unix groups to Samba user permissions
I ran into a problem today which surprised me, and after two hours of reading and testing I am more confused than ever, so I feel the need for a sanity check. It would be good to have a clear and authoritative article about this somewhere; I thought it would be in either "Using Samba" or in the HOWTO, but I don't see it there. I am using Samba in several installations in homes and

missing .dlls .exes?
Hi there; I have samba-2.2.7a installed as PDC for Windows2K, XP, 98 (have not tested yet. It appears to work with 2K and XP. However, I have a few problems and I'd appreciate your comments. 1) net time \\linux /yes takes 30-40second on both 2K and XP 2) logging in on the server gives me the following errors: unix_clean_name [/wshENU.DLL] unix_clean_name [wshENU.DLL]

Postfix and Dovecot LDA vs. LMTP
Thanks Jan. I've been trying to obtain an English copy of the Dovecot book for months, prior to starting this project. So far, I just can't find a copy. It's too bad that the author/publisher won't do a second printing or, if they're not interested in making any more money, then release it to the public domain as a PDF. Very frustrating. username map
Hello! I want to permit the root account to be called administrator from the win clients in my network. Therefore I have added 'root = administrator' in my /etc/samba/smbusers. I have also added 'username map = /etc/samba/smbusers' in smb.conf. When I try to log on as administrator from a windows client I get a message that the user does not exist. I am running samba 3 on

compiling libldap error??
Samba experts, Ok, we are having so many problems getting ldap to work, we decided to start over with our compile. We are compiling Samba --with-ldap on our AIX 5.1 system which uses gcc. Openldap (for client support) exists in /usr/local/openldap/2.2.17. In order for Samba to find the ldap.h file, we had to configure with CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/openldap/2.2.17/include"

pdbedit syntax for forcing user to change password
Hi all Maybe a stupid question, but I'm not able to figure this out from the manpage nor from the HOWTOs... How can I force a user to change his password at next logon? I tried: # pdbedit -P "user must logon to change password" -C 0 -u username # pdbedit -u username -P "user must logon to change password" -C 0 # pdbedit -P "user must logon to change password"

Postfix and Dovecot LDA vs. LMTP
Thanks again Jan. I appear to have basic LMTP working now (messages are delivered to virtual mailboxes of valid recipients and non-existent recipients are rejected). Cool. Still lots more work to do. But I think I could really use the Dovecot book. I find the wiki to be lacking in explanation. So, too often I'm just copying without knowing the reason why or how some things fit together.

Windows 7 as guest on a physikal disk
Hallo, I have an installed Windows 7 on one partition and running Debain Squeeze on the other. Both are 64 bit. I want to use Xen to run Windows as virtual guest from a physical disk. Once I get this working the Window will never be booted directly. When I try to create the virtual machine by "xm create -c win.xen" it hangs. The versions I use Xen 4.0.1-4 Kernel 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64

ldap configuration oddity
Hey, I am totally confused/lost/confused getting this config working. I am trying to get samba to authenticate against LDAP. After reading a bunch of docs I generated the config at the end. When I run testparm against it I get: Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf Unknown parameter encountered: "ldap server" Ignoring unknown parameter "ldap server" and then the
