Tektronix 640 Plus Color Printer
I am running samba 2.0.6 under Linux and currently have around 2 dozen
network printers that generally work fine served on samba. They are
four differrent flavors of HP Lasers and I have the drivers on the
server, everything's great-UNTIL......
We get a Tektronix color printer (Phaser 640 Plus). It's networking
fine, actually prints fine, except only in Black and there is some

Color Laser Printer, comments!
I am considering purchasing a color laser printer for my network and
would appreciate some feedback.
I have looked at the following:
Konica/Minolta 2430DL
HP 2600N
Can anyone tell me how well they work and are supported by cups as a
network laser printing solution?
TIA
John

No Color, Brothers Printer, Samba/CUPS
Hi,
I had this problem too but it is possible to get it working -
1. Install the printer onto the CUPS server and add it to Samba.
2. Install the printer on a Windows machine and enable the required
features/functionality.
3. Using regedit navigate to the key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\BrotherPrinterNameHere".
4. Right click the key

No Color, Brothers Printer, Samba/CUPS
Did you add that user to the "domain admins" or an other group.
If an other group, did you set the SePrivileges for that group so its allowed to edit the registry. The "domain admins" group for me has all privileges.
Just tried it out, and no problem here with user Administrator.

DFS-R (Replication) ??
Hello,
I read that replication with DFS-R requires NTFS filesystem on both
sides, because it accesses the "change journal".
Can I use DFS-R between samba4 and windows if I use ntfs-3g?
If not is it planned to support DFS-R in a future version of samba?
thanks,
Klaus

color profiles
Hello,
I was trying to figure out why I couldn't manage color profiles on a
printer shared by a Samba server, and found a posting in this mailing
list from May 23, 2003 by John Reilly that says it's not possible:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2003-May/067922.html - I quote:

Effect of setting "store dos attributes = no" in Samba 4.1.11
Thanks for your help and replies. Yes, I meant "store dos attributes".
It's pretty clear now that I need to keep the parameter 'store dos
attributes=no' since
1) the server is an AD member server and
2) the map* parameters don't do the right thing under ZFS / NFSV4 ACLs.
I've read that the steps Klaus Hartnegg listed resolves the issue on ZFS on
Linux; however, I

Print Properties will not open on a Samba shared printer
I finally got my drivers to upload to the print$ share by using the add_print_package.pl script form imprints, and I was able to attach the driver to the printer created with SWAT (the rpc command: addprinter does not work) by using the rpc command: setdriver. So at this point whenever I connect a client to the machine it no longer asks about trying to find a driver. However when I go to open the

/etc/printcap for samba-shared printer...
Morning...
Just spent this evening getting printing setup off my FreeBSD
machine (oh, how I love Solaris at these times *groan*)...got it now so
that I can print directly from Netscape, color and graphics and all.
The printer is an HP 560c.
Now, I want to be able to print from my Windoze95 machine, and
have samba setup for that, as well as file sharing. If I setup my Windoze
machine such

Installing HP Color Laserjet 3500 printer in CentOS 5
OK, I've downloaded and installed the driver (pxljr-1.1-1.i386.rpm), and
the ppd file (HP-Color_LaserJet_3550-pxljr.ppd) in /etc/cups/ppd. Now
I'm trying to set up the printer, connected to the network via a
JetDirect printer server at location 192.168.0.200. Trouble is, I'm
really not sure about all the settings in Printer Configuration -
specifically, what should the Device URI be -

Color schemes that work for people with color-deficient vision
A recent article in the earth science literature cited below and available at
http://geography.uoregon.edu/datagraphics/EOS/
points out that rainbow color schemes and mixtures of green and yellow
can be troublesome for people with color-deficient vision.
The authors propose alternative schemes that can be viewed and downloaded
