problem logging on to samba domain (pdc) from a win x pworkstation
If I'm not mistaken, the sign or seal hack from samba2.2.3 is broken. Use the newer hack or manually modify your registry. First domain "STAFF" Second domain "PATRONS" They both have wins enabled and all clients have broadcasting disabled. Can someone tell me if I will have a problem? If so please give some kind of example. I am really trying to learn why

Can't write to a disk share
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.2 on a Red Hat 7.2 system. I've set up a few disk shares (with the writable option set to yes), but I can't write to them. I can read from them ok, so I don't know what the problem is. I'm trying to write to the shares from a Windows 2000 Professional computer. Here's a part of my logs that appear every time I try to write to a share:

Users can't pause or cancel print jobs
Hello all, I am running Samba 3.0.9 with CUPS 1.1.17. When my windows user try to pause print jobs it does not work and gives them an error "Error Processing Command" in Windows. If they try to cancel a print job it doesn't give any error. It just disappears from the print queue and print anyway. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks all Dominic Iadicicco

File permission
Hello all, I think my file permission are completely screwed up? I created a file called text file called test as root user and have done chgrp on that file to a group called admin. I have added the users ozzie and root to that group. I then did a chmod g+wr on the test file and ozzie can still not write to the file. If I take away read access from the group, ozzie can still read the

Samba maps any user to nobody -> problem logging on to samba domain (pdc) from a win xp workstation
I did it all again. The samba workstation account smb_cl is all right. My problem is that after I have joined my samba domain the domain logon does not work. At the logon prompt on my Win XP it says - that no domain controller is available or - that my machine account was not found. My log.smbd says at the same time: [2003/04/11 12:21:59, 0] smbd/password.c:authorise_login(872)

Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board. It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset. I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine. It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. I have tried updateing bios, Kernel and Xfree. There is just something with this

However I have not heard anything here on this forum or any problems with RHE3 U3. So I am assuming all is well. Please verify if possible. Can't login from Xbox - No session setup?
Hello. I'm having problems connecting to a Samba 2.2.7 share from my Xbox with Xbox Media Player (XBMP) 2.3. In the config file of XBMP, I added an entry which should make XBMP connect to a SMB share on my Samba server. I think, I've got everything setup correctly - according to the docs. However, when I try to connect, I don't see anything on the Xbox. After having set log level

Currently running samba 2.2.7 on rh8 I have not had any problems until recently, and I'm not sure exactly what would have caused this problem. I have no problem joining a w2k workstation to my domain, but whenever I attempt to log into the domain, i receive the following error on the workstation: The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's computer account in its

I actually found "nobody" in smbpasswd, but I'm not sure if I put it in there and dont understand why nobody needs to be samba-user. imho nobody is the unix-account under which

connection problem to W2k DC
Hi, we are using Samba 2.2.5 in a somewhat larger configuration: a big NFS file server and a separate box acting as a NFS/SMB gateway. Usually there are about 200-250 connected clients. The box is a Sun Netra T1 AC200 with Solaris 8. Sometimes we get the following (loglevel 1): [2002/07/01 11:48:50, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(615) si17062 (10.2.202.88) connect to service mrd8si as user

Samba processes domain authenticated user as nobody during logon. bat execution
Beating head on desk again! I have a samba server is running winbind which can access domain. It is working fine and is using domain credentials. I access the samba shares after the user has authenticated against a novell server during the novell logon script. The shares are authenticated with user domain credentials and verified with smbstatus. This works great! If I alternatively use windows
