similar to: Joining the domain client related questions

Just a heads up. I recently built a new (XPSP2) image with the Kaspersky 6.0.3.837 on it. I had issues joining the domain with the AV running. Had to disable. (A domain controller for domain ABC could not be contacted.....) I didn't have AV on my previous image, so I don't know if version 5 did the same. I don't recall seeing this on the list, so I thought I would throw it out....

I'd like to start scanning our boxed up documents. I'd say about 30,000 files total. Mostly to eliminate the boxes of paper we have. I'd like to scan them, store them, Have some sort of index, and be able to retrieve them on multiple machines. I think PDF would be the desired format. Hi list, In my current organization, we aren't going to be using roaming profiles (for various reasons, it's not desired). I'm moving us from no domain controller to Samba as a PDC (with an OpenLDAP backend), and I'm trying to make the process as invisible as possible to the end users. Each XP user's local desktop exists at: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>

It seems weird. On 75% of my machines, it creates accounts as: c:\documents and settings\username on 25% of the machines, it creates them as: c:\docments and settings\username.DOMAINNAME These are fresh machines, so it's unclear to me where this behavior stems from. We're not using roaming profiles. Does anyone have any idea as to why this happens? thanks Chris

Well I have determined that everytime someone logs in/logs out of a windows box in our lab *ALL* of the files in "My Directory" are copied from/to the file server to the local client. Needless to say this is retarded and needs to stop. The local sys admin needs to perform some windows voodoo to redirect this directory.
