mdadm Linux Raid 10: is it 0+1 or 1+0?
The relevance of this question can be found here:
http://aput.net/~jheiss/raid10/
I read the mdadm documents but I could not find a positive answer.
I even read the raid10 module source but I didn't find the answer there
either.
Does someone here know it?
Thank you!

centralized user authentication

I am currently testing LDAP (openldap) combined with nss_ldap,
configured with authconfig.
I would start by testing IPA. Redhat is building out a set of
enterprise management tools which include cobbler and spacewalk; I
would think IPA will eventually be integrated into their mgt tools.

Kerberos authentication for non-windows KDCs
I was told recently that Kerberos authentication won't work against a
non-windows KDC. Is that accurate? So for instance, it is not possible
for Samba running on say RHEL, to authenticate against a Linux server
running MIT Kerberos?
Additionally, many people said that setting this up was
well-documented. Any suggestions of particularly good docs / how-to's?'

My future plan
My future plan currently looks like this for my VPS hosting solution, so any feedback would be appreciated:
Each Node:
Dell R210 Intel X3430 Quad Core 8GB RAM
Intel PT 1Gbps Server Dual Port NIC using linux "bonding"
Small pair of HDDs for OS (Probably in RAID1)
Each node will run about 10 - 15 customer guests
Storage Server:
Some Intel Quad Core Chip
2GB RAM (Maybe more?)

Ring file
When I call into my Asterisk system, before the call is picked up, I
hear a ring tone.
What is that tone called & where is stored and configured.
I'd like to replace the ring with an announcement that is played until
the call is picked up or put into voicemail.
TIA

Zhone Zplex 10 units
Mine has been working well, but the only problem is that it doesn't
support callerid (from the POTS side).

Partition # does not end on cylinder boundary.
Running CentOS 6.3
Areca hardware raid 10
fdisk -l
reports multiple partitions with the following description.
"Partition # does not end on cylinder boundary."
Disks are 512 byte sector size.
Raid stripe size is 64K.
but if I use
fdisk -lc
(-c Switch off DOS-compatible mode. )
I don't get any warnings.
Should I reinstall? (performance hit?)

freebsd 7 and areca controller
Hi.
I'm looking at deploying a freebsd 7-release server with some storage
attached to an areca ARC-1680 controller. But this card is not
mentioned in 'man 4 arcmsr'
Areaca's website does mention freebsd as a supported OS
(http://www.areca.com.tw/products/pcietosas1680series.htm).

Slow reading speed over RDMA
Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me with some performance troubles I've been having.
I'm doing some tests with gluster 3.2.0, and I can't understand some of the
behavior I'm getting with gluster.
The test is using a volume with 12 stripped bricks (each brick is an HD),
with no replication, via RDMA. I'm doing random readings of 4GByte files
with the FIO tool.

Samba in a production database environment
Is anyone using SAMBA 3 with DBISAM databases?
I've tried what I believe to be every combination of security and file
lock settings without success. The program ( ACS - Automated Church
Software ) reports numerous errors, of course the only officially
supported network is Windows Server.
Things worked ok with Samba 2, however SAMBA seems to have broken things.

Sniffer techniques
As the group knows, I'm having compatibility issues with a critical
database application. It's been wisely suggested that I monitor the
line to see what's up. Problem is: I've never done this before &
suspect others like me are not familiar with these techniques.
I did find an old LinuxWorld article http://tinyurl.com/yrjurx however
I help thinking there is more on the top.

Best use of 4 drives?
I''m putting together a NexentaOS (b65)-based server that has 4 500 GB drives on it. Currently it has two, set up as a ZFS mirror. I''m able to boot Nexenta from it, and it seems to work ok. But, as I''ve learned, the mirror is not properly redundant, and so I can''t just have a drive fail (when I pull one, the OS ends up hanging, and even if I replace it, I have to
