RAID1 building via hardware
Hi all,
I?m trying to create a RAID1 on a machine. I?ve already configurated BIOS (mother board, Intel, S500VSA SATA) so as to build RAID1 via hardware. However on CentOS Installer, when I reach "disk setup" screen, it shows up 2 devices (/dev/sda and /dev/sdb).
Is this right (both devices being showed)?
How should I proceed on this moment? If I create the

Samba + Squid
Hello,
I have a samba 3.0.22 + squid-2.5.STABLE14 running with Windows 2003 AD
integration in ADS mode. Every time I reboot the server or after a few
hours I have to rerun kinit with my user to get a ticket. Is there any
way to do this automatically? I know this is probably documented
somewhere but I couldn't find. I'd appreciate your advise on this.
Thanks,

Problem with "AT&T Maintenance" protocol in PRI connection, no B+D channels available
Hi guys,
We are experiencing a problem with a T1 PRI connection. After trying a number of variations in the configuration files, the behavior is always the same: no B channels come up and the D channel doesn't appear to be working well. We can see there are AT&T Maintenance messages being exchanged by asterisk and the provider, CONNECT and CONNECT ACKNOWLEDGE, but that doesn't

Removing Samba+LDAP, replacing W2k3+AD
Four years ago, I migrated our network from Windows NT based servers to
Linux, Samba+LDAP based setups. This setup has worked fine. Last year,
we replaced our Exchange 5.5 server - the last "real" Windows server -
with Scalix. This last decision has come back to bite me.
Several new "thingys" that the boss wants, among other things, are
forcing me to implement Exchange

short plots: lwd, margin and postscript behavior
Hi all.
I'm working with a short plot (3x3 inches), but the
results (via postscript command) are not nice. The lwd
command don't affect the lines (that are very large)
and the margins don't change using oma, mai, mar, ...
Below I put an example. Moreover, save the graphics
via postscript command isn't working well (see the
attached ps).
Thanks by the help,
Cezar Freitas.

Varios gráficos en una vista en OpenAir
Hola Carlos,
Me parece que timePlot genera los gráficos en un formato diferente.
Al ejecutar grid.arrange genera el siguiente error:
Error in gList(list(list(plot = list(formula = value ~ date | default, :
only 'grobs' allowed in "gList"
Gracias.

Split charts with ggplot2, tidyquant
So the general strategy for getting these into separate panels in ggplot
is to have a single variable that will be your response and a factor
variable that indexes which original variable it came from. This can be
accomplished in many ways, but the way I use is with the melt() function
in the reshape2 package.
For example,
library(reshape2)
plotDF <- melt(SPYdf,

Split charts with ggplot2, tidyquant
For this kind of control you will probably need to move to base graphics
and utilize the `fig` argument in par(), in which case you would want to
run the plot() command twice: once with your first outcome and once with
your second, changing the par() settings before each one to control the
size.

Thanks for the reminder about lattice! I did some searching and there's
a good example of manipulating the size of subplots using the `position`
argument (see pp. 202-203 in the Trellis Users Guide:
http://ml.stat.purdue.edu/stat695t/writings/Trellis.User.pdf). This is
not within the paneling environment with the headers like in other
trellis plots though, so you'll have to do a bit

clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi,
I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length
6). I call it 'names'.
"Graham Chapman"
"John Cleese"
"Terry Gilliam"
"Eric Idle"
"Terry Jones"
"Michael Palin"
And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called
'shortnames' with the same length.
The new vector should look like:

Split charts with ggplot2, tidyquant
Hi Charlie,
Thanks. This is helpful. As mentioned in my original question, I want to be
able to plot a few such charts on the same page,
say a 2 x 2 grid with such a chart for each of 4 different stocks. Using
your solution I accomplished this by making
a list pLst of your ggplots and then calling cowplot::plot_grid(
plotlist=pLst, nrow=2, ncol=2 ) That worked fine.
The one issue I have is that

That (the need for base graphics) is false. It certainly **can** be done in
base graphics -- see ?layout for a perhaps more straightforward way to do
it along the lines you suggest.
However both lattice and ggplot are based on grid graphics, which has a
similar but slightly more flexible ?grid.layout function which would allow
one to size and place subsequent ggplot or lattice graphs in an

Could you provide some information on your data structure (e.g., are the
two time series in separate columns in the data)? The solution is fairly
straightforward once you have the data in the right structure. And I do
not think tidyquant is necessary for what you want.
Best,
Charlie
