Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools
Hi
I have tried to setup freebsd (with samba3 ports), backend is openldap
with smbldap-tools.
After a windows client joined the domain, I tried to right click a
folder to set Security/permission.
The windows client has a popup windows which display:
The program cannot open the required dialog box

policy files
Hi,
I think I have two questions - one which is samba and one which is windows
policy files. I'll try to limit this question to the samba side but will
give the full picture for completeness.
I'm trying to implement a simple policy to redirect a few simple folders
(for starters). I have a policy file called NTConfig.POL that is available

samba+ldap windows problem
Hi everybody!
I don't know if this is a samba or ldap problem, so here is the problem and
you decide.
I've installed Samba+LDAP to replace the windows solution. The workstation

Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools [solved]
Hi
I have figured out what went wrong.
I have previously complied samba without ldap support.
There are tdb files in /var/db/samba.
I have just uninstall samba and
remove all tdb files (this instruction was given when run make
deinstall in the samba3 ports, but I didn't follow it before).
I did a fresh recompile with ldap support and now the problem is gone.
Thanks
Patrick

Problems joining existing domain W2K SP4 and Samba 2.2.8a
Hi all, I seem to be having some weird problems while trying
to add a workstation to an existing domain. Samba 2.2.8a is
running on FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE-p17 and all the clients have
Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 installed.
This particular workstaion was part of the domain until its
hard drive went under. The drive had to be replaced with a
new one, the OS was installed and now when I try to

NT profiles on samba server
Hi, there,
I put roaming profiles for NT4 users on samba server.
In "Domain User Manager", I set "User profile Path" \\abel\profile\%U.pds,
here abel is samba server.
It works well, but everyday several users complain. Sometime, they cannot login because of
roaming profiles. Sometimes, some users cannot run VC or VB.
Sometime, I only need to remove ntuser.dat on samba

Help wanted...
Long story short, I have a small LAN, a Red Hat 8.0 fileserver, a Win95
fileserver and 2 workstations, one Win98SE and the other is Red Hat 8.0.
Using Samba as the common file system thread, I can access and play an MP3
file from the Win95 server using the RH workstation and it works fine. I can
access and play an MP3 from Linux or Win95 server using the Windows
workstation and that works

dangerous behaviour of scp
When you require a scp copy of more than 1 file to a destination that is
not a directory, scp copy the last input file to the destination
(version openssh-3.8.1p1).
Thus if you forget to specify the destination, the last file is
_silently destroyed_.
I know that rcp exhibits the same behaviour but cp and rsync don't do
anything in that case and _kindly_ warn you that you made a mistake:

root != admin domain user?
Hi all,
Samba has been running as PDC for some months in a row w/o no issues so
far.
Users and machines were created and added to the domain correctly...
Now I'm facing the following problem... I hope it's easy to solve...
Although machines have been added to the domain using the root user, and
it's mapped to Administrator in /etc/samba/smbusers, when a situation

winbind - New DOMAIN but old DOMAIN not CHANGING .URGENT
Hi,
We just imported (moved) all our staff from the old w2k domain to the
new w2k3 domain. Say their accounts and passwords
From STAFF domain to say NEW. Seems winbind is keeping the old domain
users.
I'm using winbind for squid auth on Mandrake linux 10.0
