Latest samaba updates
When I let yum install the latest samba updates, it ate my smb users file and smb.conf. Once I restored those, it gave me several selinux avc denials, one of which I can't clear up. See http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2965 for details. Anyone else having problems like this? Dave

In the past, on my Linux test server I have installed samba 2.2.3a and a seperate install of winbind for that same version. I followed the directions I've seen posted and it all works well. I tried to upgrade to 2.2.5 but winbind wouldnt work. So I went back down to 2.2.3a This was

Combining NFS and Samaba - file locking
I have a network where we have a main site with a PDC, and two remote sites with BDCs. The backend is LDAP which is slaved to the remote sites, Samba is 2.2.8a, the main server is part of the Suse Linux OpeneXchange Server, the other two servers are Suse Standard Server 8. What I wanted to do was to have users at the various sites map one drive from their 'local' server. Behind the

Authentication delays in Samaba 3.0.10
Hello, We have recently upgraded to samba 3.0.10 (RedHat 7.3) and are now having authentication delays with some of our shares. We are using unencrypted passwords so we can use the pam system-auth...we have the plaintext registry patch on all windows machines that are connecting. The problem is that if you manually connect or browse to a share from a windows box (2k or XP), the client sends your

How to build samba-debuginfo rpm from samaba source
Hi Samba team, Is there a command or a way to build samba-debuginfo rpm from the samba source. I have been through wiki.samba.org, but failed to find out. Explored the Makefile targets, even there I did not find the make target to build debuginfo package or RPM. Thanks in advance for your help. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Writing_a_Samba_VFS_Module -> this page mentions to install

Can't get password policies (bad lockout attempt) to work on Samaba 3 + OpenLDAP
Hi, I have a Debian stable (woody aka 3.0) machine. I am moving my existing samba 2.x installation (that has users stored in smbpasswd) to samba 3.0.4 with LDAP as the backend. I am able to move the users to LDAP just fine. However, the password policy of bad lockout attempt does not seem to work. I installed the samba deb file from the samab.org site. I also have OpenLDAP slapd

Samaba 2.2.7 and windows printer driver woes
Greetings, all, I have a fresh install of Samba 2.2.7 on a Solaris 9 machine. Stand alone, not part of a domain. Testing with a stand alone Windows 2000 professional client with service pack 3 installed. Samba PDC, permissions on user profile folders too wide
Hi folks, I have got a Samba PDC with roaming profiles: CentOS 7 x64, build 1511 The server is set up with roaming profiles according to the current Samba Wiki. Roaming works, but the permissions in the profiles are too wide, giving access not only to the user in every profile, but also to the group (770). For example, if I log in under Windows, add a file (or folder) on my desktop, and log

Authentication of user through Win2k to Samba PDC failed
I have set up a Samba PDC with LDAP password backend schema. I found the way of connecting win2k workstations to this Samba server by setting the parameter "workgroup" (in smb.conf) to the name of the domain I created previously in Samba/LDAP. Once in win2k workstations, I changed the identification from workgroup members to domain. But when validating, it asked for any user who

Hi all! First off, I'd like to thank you for the help you've previously given me. I'd like to state a few of the problems I am now experiencing, and you all can provide insight. I've read all the documentation I can find and have surfed the archives for this newsgroup, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (I am using SAMBA 2.2.7) Issue 1: If I don't

FreeBSD 4.x NT PDC authorization
Dear group, I know this is not the first post related to NT domain authentication with Samba. I actually did manage to set up NT domain authentication on a FreeBSD 5.4 using Samaba 3.0.12 based on infos I mostly found here. I'm stuck however to get the same thing working on a FreeBSD 4.11. The steps I've tried to follow are described in the Samba Howto. Configured/compiled Samaba 3.0.20b

Right now I'm using roaming profiles... (I think?) If it's possible could some smb.conf examples or urls

Security issue: a user can fill cache with random urls
Say your app responds to : store/show/3 and caching is enable at the store controller level. A route says : map.connect ''store/:action/:id'', :controller => ''store'' All the following urls will be processed and cached (the cache filling with ''page not found'' messages) ! store/foo/bar store/show/090934298234897342
