Problem using valid users with security = ADS

Winbind Kerberos Problem? - Getting Wrong User SID
I am having trouble getting users connected to shares after setting ACL permissions on the share (removing the Everyone group and adding specific users). I have no problem with wbinfo, getent, or net join commands. I can also kinit a user and use smbclient -k to connect to windows shares from the samba server. I have removed ncsd from the system to make sure it can't run. BTW, the user can

Hi, We discovered that the the patch for BUG 9817 (https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9817) which was first included into Samba 3.6.15 breaks our cross-domain setup: AD DC Domain "AD" [WinServer 2003 R2] AD DC Domain "D" [WinServer 2008 R2] client_1 (domain member in AD, WinServer 2003 R2) samba_srv (domain member in D,

After reading recommendations (e.g. by Mr. Terpstra) I've focused my attempts aroung robocopy, xxcopy, net rpc share migrate shares. However, I'm running into stumbling blocks that seem to involve a problem

samba & unix group permissions problems
Hi, I'm having permissions problems connecting to a share when the gid of the directory shared is not the primary group of the user connecting to it. Maybe I faced it the wrong way, but I did read (and at least thought I understood) the 'File, directory and share access controls' section of the howto [0]. My users have either one or another 'primary group' (the one set in

Laggy and faulty Samba server
Hi, I've installed Samba a few times, and I always have the same problem - except now I really want to get rid of it. My Samba server is very, very, very slow on occations (not always), and some times it's really annoying. What happens is that it doesn't seem to be online for a period of 5-10 seconds once every minute! If I'm copying huge files, it's working great, but when

Samba & Active Directory w/ Kerberos Trust
Hello, I'm having some difficulty understanding the best approach to setting up a samba fileserver in our environment. We have an active directory domain (2008) that has account "stubs" that we use for security and authorization (the passwords are unknown/random). This domain has a one-way Kerberos trust to an MIT Kerberos realm that we use for authentication. The user accounts are

Potential clue for Bug 16975 - lme fixed sigma - inconsistent REML estimation
Dear list, I was trying to create a VarClass for nlme to work with Fay-Herriot (FH) models. The idea was to create a modification of VarComb that instead of multiplying the variance functions made their sum (I called it varSum). After some fails etc... I found that the I was not getting the expected results because I needed to make sigma fixed. Trying to find how to make sigma fixed I run into

Problems with NT passwords on samba 2.2.8 and earlier versions.
Hi, To elaborate on the password problem - We are operating in an NT4 environment that is slowly migrating to w2k. We have a number of unix workstations and servers that are running samba to share their disk space to PC users. The PC password policy requires that users change their password at monthly intervals. The samba configuration on all the unix boxes points to an NT4 PDC server for

Samba - Performance Issues
Hello Guys, I am having some problems with configuring SAMBA with regards to performance. We are running SAMBA 2.2.3a on Dual PIII 1Ghz machines with 512MB of RAM. The server is running on a default server installation of Red Hat 7.2. We have a 500Gb RAID 5 drive using the Promise SX6000 Raid controller. Currently we are only getting a throughput of ~5MB/S for writes and ~13MB/S for reads.
