No Getent
Using winbind for authentication through PDC. Problem: Some users do not get access to the samba share and some do. When I do "wbinfo -u" the users who cannot access show up but when I do "getent passwd", they are not there. Fileserver Failover with AD and Gluster
I currently plan to move my storage to Gluster. One of the anticipated advantages is to have Gluster replicate data among physical nodes, i.e. if one node dies the file service can live on. AD for authentication also replicates nice on distinct physical nodes. So the remaining single point of failure is the samba file service. Is there something more intelligent than: if not \\severA\share

adding samba4 member to samba4 domain
I'm having some problems I don't quite understand adding a samba4 member to a samba4 domain. The member joins without problems, but no one can login. I'm guessing it might be an idmap problem (well, see below for more details) - the login server is several times updated, and started using alpha16 I think, but does not have any idmap backend configuration at all... Could I add that,

Possible bug in 2.0.7?
Hi. I'm setting up a Linux server (VA Linux version of Red Hat 6.2, kernel 2.2.14), and I've installed Samba 2.0.7 from the rpm samba-2.0.7-20000425.i386.rpm, packager John H Terpstra [Samba Team], build date Wed Apr 26 02:46:34 GMT 2000. My smb.conf file, and a portion of the log file, are at the end of this message. I'm trying to replace a NetWare server, which co-exists with an

Pairwise T-Tests and Dunnett's Test (possibly using multcomp)
Hello Everyone,   I've been learning to use R in my spare time over the past several months. I've read about 7-8 books on the subject. Lately I've been testing what I've learned by trying to replicate the analyses from some of my SAS books. This helps me make sure I know how to use R properly and also helps me to understand how the two programs are similar and different.   Below is

how to check if a variable is preferentially present in a sample
Dear All, I do apologise if this question is out of place for this list but I've tried searching mailing lists and read "Introductory Statistics with R" by Peter Dalgaard, but couldn't find any hints on solving my question below: I have a data frame (d) of values which I will rank in decreasing order of "val". Each value belongs to a group, either 'A',

Round 2 - Guest Share on WXP Host
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far. Not quite there but I think I'm close. For anyone new, it's a private 2 comp network (RH9 and WXP) so I just want the simplest guest access possible. This is my current smb.conf file: [global] workgroup = SAMBA encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd security = share null

Setting up a State Space Model in dlm
This question pertains to setting up a model in the package "dlm" (dynamic linear models, http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/dlm/index.html I have read both the vignette and?"An R Package for Dynamic Linear Models" (http://www.jstatsoft.org/v36/i12/paper), both of which are very helpful. Curiosity when installing CentOS 5.1 in addition to W98 & WXP
I got half way through an installation of CentOS on a box that has Window$ 98 in the first partition and Window$ XP in the second, where CentOS was designated for partitions 3 (/boot - 128MB) and 4 (/) and had some strange results. During the install, I changed the default OS to boot to Window$ (because I rarely use this machine, but others who don't have a clue use Wxx), but then while the

samba 3 LDAP/PDC problem - adding WXP account
Hi, I've finally gotten my LDAP password backend up and running, and finally figured out the SID 1000/1001 thing for Samba admin. However I'm unable to join the workstation to my domain. Using any random user in the WXP dialogue, I get the "Access is Denied" error. Fair enough. Using the user with sambasid and sambagroupsid s-*-1000/s-*-1001, I get the error "The Username

Accessing Shares with WXP Pro
Let me rephrase my question: How do I access shares with WXP Pro. I don't want to be part of a domain. I just want to be able to search for the server from the computer, map a network drive to a share, and then life will be good. With that said, right now I can find the server. I can double-click it. But what comes up is a login box that only lets me put in a password. The

Samba to share NFSv4 + ACL mounted filesystems on NetApp storage
Hi, We are running into a problem with a Samba setup and would like to know if a current fix or workaround is at all possible. Our setup is a NetApp filer serving NFS v4 that is mounted by Solaris and Linux servers. On those servers we are using Samba to create shares of those NFSv4 mounted filesystems. We are migrating to this NFSv4 setup from an existing Solaris NFSv3+Posix ACL setup that also

multiple comparison
Dear all, I was trying to understand how "multcomp" package works by running the examples given in the documentation. However I still don't understand when it comes to multiple comparison set by user (please refer to "Ksub" in the code). Therefore I run 2 other cases along with the original example (case 1), with the expectation I'll get the point from the output. The
